I think I may be overreacting...daycare related
I went to pick up my boys from daycare this afternoon. I usually pick up my 13 month old first, then my 3 yr old. My 13 month old is in the middle of being transitioned into the toddler room, so when I went into the infant room and the teacher said they had taken him to play on the playground with the toddlers, I didn't think twice. But when I get out there, he is not there. I go to the director, asking her where he is, and she says, well if he is not with the infants, and not with the toddlers...that's a good question. WHAT?!? She comes with me to search the building and it turns out that he was with the assistant director looking at the pet frogs in the 4 yr old room. Which, if someone could have told me that in the beginning I wouldn't have cared. But the fact that no one knew where he was...why didn't the toddler teachers tell me that the assistant director had taken him? They just looked at me and said, "no, Callum is not out here". DH thinks I am overreacting, and maybe I am. I just didn't like not knowing where my son was! Do you think I have a right to be upset?

ABSOLUTELY. It should have been communicated with the teachers.

I've been in similar situation but find that although his teachers are good they don't always share too much detail without bring asked directly ..'he is not here' vs 'i don't know where he is' so they said he is not there, so I'd have to ask'where is he'then they'd tell me he is with the assistant director...I Don't know why or if knowing I have same experience helps....

My guess is the assistant director is the one who was walking your son too/from the other group and they got side tracked on the way to the playground to see the frogs. So the first teacher thought he was in the playground, and he had not made it to the playground yet so the people on the playground did not know where he was. Sounds like he was with a trusted adult the entire time so it should not be an issue.

ehhh I feel like this happens a lot at my daycare too.
the kids get shuffled around when they are there early/later.
I go to my sons (4) room to pick him up and its empty. I go to the other 4's room (sometimes they combine) and he isn't there. I ask at the front desk and they kind of all look at each other and someone says "oh I think he is in the pineapples" aka 4-5 year old room.
Annoying but he is safe.

Exactly. Initially I get being worried once I saw he was w the assistant director I would not be bothered.

I'd be ticked. No doubt. Don't care who did what in what order. Someone should know where my kid is at all times and I should never have to track my child down through the people who all day they don't know. Teacher #1 could have said Mrs asst xx took him to xyz.
