my 5 month old wont eat solids
my 5 month old (today) DS wont eat solids. I have been trying on and off for about a month now. I know it probably isn't a big deal but its driving me insane. DD was never like this As soon as she turned 4 months she ate her solids no problem she probably would have eaten it earlier if I was allowed to give it to her.
DS take a couple of bites when I feed him make a face and then usually that's it.
I thought maybe because he wasn't feeling good and he wasn't really drinking his bottles he didn't want food so I stopped. after a week of him back to drinking his normal amount I just tried again and still the same thing. I have been trying with cereal and then recently added apple baby food still no change
He has been sleeping through the night since about 8 weeks this past week he has been getting up early so another reason I thought maybe he wanted food.
I feel like he is showing signs I was holding him while eating an ice cream cone and he kept trying to eat it. I go with my food to see if he wants and he acts like he does.
I don't what I am looking for maybe someone else who experienced this maybe some advice maybe just to let it out

Sounds like he's not ready. DS1 didn't like cereal and fruits till 6 months. Because DS1 wasn't the best eater I waited till 6 - 7 months to do cereal with DS2 and he took to it immediately. Give it time and wait another month.

Personally, I would keep trying every few days and eventually he will start eating them when he is ready. My two older girls didn't start solids until they were over 6 months, so I wouldn't worry.

my advice is to give up. it sounds like your lo is not ready. not all kids are alike. i would wait a couple of months and try again. lots of kids don't start solids until after 6 months of age.

He might not be ready. Or maybe he is and only wants a few bites. DS didn't eat a lot when he first started solids. Just be patient. 5 months is still young.

DD was the exact same. I just tried everyday for 3 months and eventually she ate. Now at 11 months she is a great eater.

My DD did not eat until she was like 14 months.. and that too she picked at things. She was EBF and I went nuts. She's almost 2 1/2 now and there are good days and bad, but I took me a so long for her to get her to eat. Actually, her nanny got her to eat more than me..
ETA: she hated cereal, purees and all that baby food and I think that was probably the reason and I started her at 6 months. It took me a while to realize she could gnaw on finger foods so all together it was literally trial and error.

It sounds like it's too early. We're not going to attempt solids until 6 months b/c that is what is recommended now.

Keep trying or wait a few weeks and try again. Some babies take longer to get it. Feeding this young is really just a training thing so if he wont eat it yet its ok.
ETA- what did you feed? Cereal or fruit/veg. Sometimes they don't like one or the other.

we started with just oatmeal cereal and he was making faces with that so then I added apples to it and I still get faces but I will say I do try just apples and he eats it but again only a couple of spoonful's.
thanks everyone I know he is still young and I am not sure why its bothering me so much I know I am being silly

He's probably not ready. Don't let it stress you out. 
Just keep trying slowly. He's still so young.
