Infant Car Seat - Which Would You Register For?

I am on bedrest with contractions, and guess I am overanalyzing things with all this free time, so thanks in advance for any advice.

We registered for (and received) the Maxi Cosi Mico AP. I was looking for a lighter car seat (it weights only 8.6 lbs). Compared to other car seats, this only holds babies to 22 lbs. However, I can't really envision myself carrying much more than 30 lbs around anyway, so was okay with that.

Other friends have suggested I consider the Nuna Pipa (not a lot of reviews on here for that seat). This is even lighter - 7.7 lbs, and can hold babies up to 32 lbs.

Now the Cybex Aton 2 (similar style to Nuna Pipa, and cheaper) just came out with very high ratings. It weights 9 lbs and holds babies up to 35 lbs.

I think Cybex Aton 2 and Maxi Cosi Mico AP are same price, Nuna Pipa is more.

What would you do?

My DD is almost 4 so it's been awhile since I've done research on these things, but I can't say that I've heard of any of the seats that you mentioned. I have a Graco snugride and we were really happy with it.

I'm not familiar with the car seats you mentioned, the only one I've heard of is the Maxi Cosi. If you like the Maxi Cosi and researched it and are comfortable with it, then I would keep that one. Like you said, you won't really be carrying the baby in the infant seat once they get that heavy so I'm not sure if the higher weight limit on the other 2 is worth switching for.

I registered for the Britax B-Safe.

I heart the Cybex Aton. I know both The Car Seat Lady and Car seat for the littles have raved about it as well.

I haven't seen the Pipa personally but here is Car seat for the Little's review http://csftl.org/nuna-pipa-review/

I'd get the lightest one that adapts to different systems like a stroller and a swing. I have the Graco Snugride 35

Re: Infant Car Seat - Which Would You Register For?

I had a Graco safe seat for my two oldest and just got a new Graco click connect 35. It's pretty light for a car seat. I was between the graco and the Britax infant seat. Britax was heavier so I went with lighter one. This is my third so I know how heavy those seats can get after as baby gets bigger. I was always happy with the graco infant seats.
