I don't know, but I've been wondering the same thing. We just transitioned DD out of a sleep sack for the spring, and now that we're using a blanket, I was thinking about a pillow. She sleeps all over the crib though, so I don't know if I should bother.

I just gave them pillows at 3y3m when we transitioned to toddler beds.

We started just after DD turned 2. She had a bad cold and we used it to prop her head up and she loved it.

We gave her one when she was just over 2 and it was useless. She slept everywhere but on it. She is almost 3 and is just now starting to use her "babies" and stuff to make a little pillow for herself so I might try again in a few months.

She's had a regular full size (tho flatish) pillow since 9m.
She is now 5 and has double pillows and a center pillow (princesses are all on it) on her bed. Danged kid is spoiled but I love her

Toddler pillow?
DD is almost 2 and I put the Boppy in her crib a few weeks ago. She used to sleep all over her crib, but was congested so I put that in there to help prop her up a bit. Since shes had the pillow she doesnt move around anymore, she mostly stays the same position all night with her head on the pillow. She likes it because she can cuddle/hold the pillow as opposed to a regular flat pillow.
