Do you ever feel like you put too much pressure on yourself?

You are not alone! I was just commiserating with a good friend yesterday how no matter what we do, we feel like we are just failing in the Mom department. Yet, we both have very happy and healthy babies that are growing and thriving, really. How can we be that bad? We just keep trying to remind ourselves that being a Mom is hard and we're all just doing our best!

Honestly, no.

I have 6 and 3 year old boys, and I stay home with them. They are happy, healthy, loved, and seem to have a good outlook on life.

I am almost 42 years old. At this point in my life, I don't second guess and analyze things like I used to. Can I do stuff better? Sure! Am I crafty? Heck no. I try my best.

I do a couple of things each day: read to them, hugs/kisses, be silly and laugh, and remind myself when they are acting out that they are still little, and try to keep calm.

From what you described your child as being like, you are a terrific mother!!!

I don't worry about being perfect, but like many moms, question if I'm doing enough, doing it right, etc. But she's healthy and happy, and really what more could I ask for.

I have tremendous mom guilt because my job involves a lot of travel. I can be gone Mon-Fri, home just on the weekend, weeks at a time. It breaks my heart. It's the most unnatural thing in the world to leave the baby and it affects me tremendously. I try to soak it all up when I'm with her but I feel like it's just not good enough.

I focus way more on my mommy fails (and get down about them) than celebrate my successes.

definitely!!! its my personality. even before DS, I just always put a lot of pressure on myself to have everything "right".... the house in order, do well at work, all that stuff.
and as a mom now, its definitely still there! I am/was a speech therapist... and DS was adopted from Korea. So I feel a lot of pressure to have him do well with his speech and language stuff. I also worked in a school, and had a lot of crazy kids LOL so I put pressure on myself to have him be well behaved. and, with the whole adoption thing... he was placed by his birth parents ( not just abandoned) so I know the story and what they wanted for him... so I feel a lot of pressure there, too to make sure we're the kind of parents they wanted him to have.
its tough!! BUT I just try to focus on the successes more than the "failures". hes a sweet, smart, kind, and well behaved little man... so I must be doing SOMETHING right!

I am a ft working mom. I stress that I dont spent e nought time since work ft. And I stress that I cant buy my kids much luxurious that other ft parent do who make more.

To be honest, no. I don't put any pressure on myself with being a mom. No mother is perfect. I know well adjusted, successful people who had lousy moms so I figure if they can turn out a contributing member of society, how can I go wrong? I know that whatever I do, it will never be as bad as what their moms did/not do. It's parenting, not rocket science. I have too many pressures in other aspects of my life to fret about how I mommy. I have a great little boy who is happy and smart and people enjoy being around him. To me, that indicates I'm doing okay.

It sounds like you have a great little kid. Don't over analyze yourself. Just go with it and enjoy her while you can.

I probably don't put enough pressure on myself, at least so far. I feel like I just go through the motions & don't even think about it enough. Probably as he gets older, I will feel more pressure to do a good job of parenting & teaching him & everything... he's still pretty young.
