question

hi ladies!

this is the first month my husband and i have been trying to conceive.

i bought the CBE digital smiley OPK and started testing on CD 6, as directed. i started getting a flashing smiley and then a "peak" smiley the week after my period. my period was supposed to be here on march 31st, but i got it this morning Chat Icon

i guess my question is how do i know when i'll be ovulating if my period keeps coming earlier and earlier?

thanks Chat Icon

question

What was the date that you got the "peak"? It just sounds like you O'ed earlier than usual this month. Trust me when I say that once you start TTC, your cycle is going to get SUPER wronky - it's going to do things you SWORE it never did before. It's likely not "earlier and earlier", with the OPK's you'll learn when you O, and AF should arrive anywhere from 11-14 days after that (that's typically normal).

i believe it was the 14th, which would make sense that my period came today b/c it would be 12 days later.

thanks for the info!

There ya go! It sounds like you just O'ed a little earlier than usual. What CD was that (cycle day, if first day of AF is cd1)?

It is, but that's right in line with where you "should be". You'll see as you keep tracking, cycles change from month to month (slightly) but CD 12 is not super early to O, that's almost a full 2 weeks after AF started.

Re: question

If this is the beginning of TTC - JUST ENJOY YOURSELF! Enjoy not using Birth Control. Don't start with OPKs, monitor, etc. You're gonna drive yourself nuts and maybe for no reason.

I'm only saying this because God Forbid you don't get PG within 6 cycles or so, your whole life will be OPKs, Monitors, Drs, etc and it's no fun at all. The best part of TTC for me was when we first started. It was exciting and FUN. Wow, sex for Fun, what a concept lol

If anything, I would just pay attention to your Cervical Mucus. If it's Eggwhite - have a little extra sex during that time.

After 3 months, maybe throw in OPKs to start getting to know your cycle a bit more

you're right. thank you!

i've been off BC for quite some time now and we've finally decided to "stop being careful" so it's kinda like you just want it to happen right away, but stressing over it, like i am, isn't going to help, i'm sure.
