Help me convince DH that Mexico is safe
DH usually lets me have my way with vacations but he won't travel to Mexico. I keep telling him flying to Mexico is absolutely safe. I have fallen in love with this Rosewood resort that someone from LIF has posted on here. There are several other gorgeous resorts in the Riviera area too.

What exactly does he think is going to happen there? I mean, the resort has everything, you don't have to leave the property at all if you don't feel comfortable doing so. I'm sure the resort even has a private shuttle or taxi service to and from the airport.
ETA: The resort looks STUNNING.

The areas of Mexico you are looking at are totally dependent on touriSm making them extremely safe. I've rented a car, used the public bus and been out at night and always felt safe.
Not sure what your DH needs to hear in order to go. Doesn't seem like he'll change his mind if he didn't before.

Help me convince DH that Mexico is safe
Which one, mayakoba?
And certain parts of Mexico are not safe, including resort areas. Things have happened recently at Acapulco and cancun area resorts.
Dh travels to Mexico City frequently, which is def not the best but he has to for work.

Help me convince DH that Mexico is safe
My co-worker is going to Acapulco next week and was advised NOT to leave the resort. I know that some areas are better then others. I would look into the travel advisors for those locations. I know my DH best friends parents own a time share in Cozumel and they say its super safe.

Re: Help me convince DH that Mexico is safe
I would look at the State department's website.
I am sure they have commentary on the situation.
If it supports you, show him. If not, either don't show him or maybe reconsider yourself.
I personally would not want to go someplace where I couldn't leave the resort because I like to do excursions and see other parts of an area but I get that sometimes people want to plant themselves in one place to eat, drink, and relax!

I was also going to suggest the State Departments website. I looked into it when we went to Cancun last year. We had no issues at all and had a great trip and felt completely safe.

tourist areas in the yucatan are perfectly safe. You must use common sense as you would anywhere. I feel a lot safer on Isla Muejres than I do on Long Island.

Re: Help me convince DH that Mexico is safe
I may be the odd ball, but I am strangely scared to travel to Mexico too. More because I have stomach issues when I travel as it is, I am scared I would ingest the water somehow. That makes me more leery than the actual place.
