UPDATE - HELP, WTH? - Did I miss ovulation??
This has been an odd month for me... much less EWCM than normal, for one. Anyway I got my smiley this morning and now it's gone! Last month I had it in morning and afternoon and it was gone the next day. Did I miss our window already???  My dh won't be home for another couple of hours!

Update 3/5:
I knew something was weird, after the smiley 2 days ago the ewcm started to really kick in, especially yesterday (which is odd for me bc it usually dies out on CD15 which has been my O day for the past few months). I had NO smiley yesterday. I take my temp this morning and it didn't rise. Also more EWCM. So I just took an OPK.... Yup - SMILEY!!!!
WTF is going on - does anyone know what could be happening?

Did I miss ovulation??
I'm still no expert but could it also just be that your urine is watered down so the opk isn't detecting the hormone??

It's likely you are just o'ing a little later than usual, just keep bd-ing, think of the second smiley as o, and not the first, might have started to surge then stopped and surged again with all the extra ewcm. It happens...

Thanks jess... I have never heard of that before... it's amazing how after so many months ttc we can still learn something new. I hope it's just a Fluke this month and not an indication that something is up.

I agree with Jess. You began to surge but didn't O, so you surged again. I would take 2nd Smiley as Surge for O. Just keep 
It's happened to me quite a few times. All with tons of EWCM. That's how I knew something was up.
From now on, I will every time there is EWCM! I can't trust my own LH surge anymore 
ETA: It proved to be true for me. The 2nd Surge was the true Surge because I have a 14 day LP and got AF exactly 14 days after 2nd surge. Pay attention to that as well so you can know for sure which was right

I find that this happens if I'm having an especially stressful week. If you've ever read "Taking Charge of Your Fertility" they go into how stress affects ovulation (doesn't change 2ww, but it can delay O).

Totally normal for your body to gear up for a surge, but the surge is delayed for a day or two (b/c of stress, lack of sleep, a cold... lots of things, really). It's totally possible to get smileys several time during a cycle. It's the last one that counts! Good luck!
