Please tell me this is a phase

My DD is 10 months. I am blessed to have my mom watch her. I leave for work before she gets up or soon after. My amazing DH stays with her for about 2 hours. My mom watches her for 8-9 hours and I get about 2-3 with dinner and bath included.

I feel sad everyone else gets so much time with her without the rush. I also feel like I am more frustrated because lately she cries when we leave my mom or my mom drops her off.

Any btdt advice or thoughts?

all i can say is i know what you are going through.
i am in a similar situation.
its really rough and i deal with a lot of guilt-mostly being that my kid doesn't like me or likes other family members better.
i dont have a choice to not work though, so it is what it is.

I'm sorry I feel your pain. I love my job too. I obviously love my kid more but the fact she's showing more for my mom just pains me.

I had the same situation and now he 'knows' and'loves'me, eventually they catch on and know mommy, its hard though, he just turned 2 in January and things have gotten better for me lately as far as that goes! Hang in there, it its a phase, hugs

I know exactly how you feel, on top of it, i live with my mom so we are literally almost never away from her. And I dont like my job anymore so theres that on top of it.

Last weekend i had the absolute worst day i was really feeling it. She kept crying for her and reaching for her. But on Sunday we were at a party and i was holding another baby and Shaun was holding Hailey right next to me. And she was looking at me and giving me a sad lip and was starting to get upset. I know its awful but it actually made me feel better. That she knows who I am.

Re: Please tell me this is a phase

The same thing is happening to us. I feel like I hardly see my baby, maybe at hour a day with him & that's it. Not at all in the morning, by the time I get home at night, he's only up for a few more hours & there are so many things to get done, he doesn't get my undivided attention. I feel like he doesn't remember me sometimes when I come home. It's depressing. I feel like he knows my mother & my husband so much better than he knows me since they spend so much more time with him. I've been sick all week too, so I have had to stay away from him a lot this week. Ugh I hate it.

Re: Please tell me this is a phase

My mom watches my 7 mo old DD. I went back to work after 3 mos but was working from home for a while. I've been back out for the last couple of weeks.

Today I went to pick her up from my parents and she wanted nothing to do with me. Lol. She was tired too, which probably didn't help the situation. I definitely felt bad and had real moments of sadness. But I'm happy she's acclimating and is used to my parents and their house. My parents absolutely adore her and she is the light of their lives. I choose to view it as being lucky that they love and watch her. I wish I could be with her more but the reality is that I need to work. It really is a win/win and I don't know what I would do without my parents, especially my mom.

Thanks ladies. You all made me feel better. I'm glad I'm not alone. Bring a mom is the greatest but so tough too.

Re: Please tell me this is a phase

6 years ago I was in your shoes when I picked up my oldest from my mom. He would get so upset to leave and my mom would smile and love all this. So I had her get him ready and walk him to the car for me. I had his favorite toys ready for him in the car. It is a phase, it's nice to know they are comfortable and enjoy being with nana but don't let it hurt you Chat Icon
