Have these worked out for you? We travel alot and generally stay at our timeshares but book extra nights through the above companies. I would say more than 50 percent of the time the rooms were the lower standard rooms. I had to make 2 complaints both actually to Hilton where there were big gorgeous hotels and we were in small side motel rooms. How has your experiences been? Tia

I booked through Hotwire couple of times. It was when we were adding an extra night to our vacation last minute. One time the room was gorgeous ..another time it was so small but beautiful. When we pullled the drapes, there was a huge wall about five feet from the window. Luckily, it didn't matter because we needed the room just to sleep. I can see hotels assigning undesirable rooms to customers booking through a third party like Hotwire.

I've never had a problem. I always use priceline... I use better bidding.com to figure out which hotel I'm most likely to get.. I've used it for cape cod and Vegas and did great!

My BIL's gf uses priceline to bid on hotels all the time, she loves it... the last time she was able to get herself and my BIL a hotel room in Miami for cheap and they were happy with it.

I haven't used it recently since we have a ton of Starwood Points but, I've used Priceline in the past and haven't had any issues. We only use it to stay at top hotels/resorts and we've always saved substantially on the room price and got nice rooms (we got rooms at the Marriott in Napa for 1/2 the advertised price).

Re: Hotwire/hotels.com/Priceline.com
I have used all of them. I have gotten some great deals through hotwire and priceline. But you don't know if you will get a room with a queen or king bed. 1 or 2 beds. Etc. And you don't know what hotel you will get. You know the area and the star category only. There is a website called betterbidding.com and I have usually been able to figure out which hotels I am likely to get. I use these sites more for one night stays on road trips where I don't really care so much.
hotels.com you can choose the room category and know the hotel you are getting. Ive used them often. I also ahve used expedia and orbitz. i compare all of them for the best price.

I agree with betterbidding.com - it usually is right I never pick a hotel with less than 4 stars to ensure I wont be in a dive
