How late can you be for a Disney dining reservation?

We are going to Disney the first week of March. Having difficulty making dining reservations. There are a lot available around 4:15.

How late can you be for the reservation not to be accepted?

I feel like they are pretty accommodating
I think I heard them say that if you're late, they understand because sometimes buses run wacky

Your best bet is to call. How late do you think you will be?

I would prefer 5pm.

Currently the only reservation we have is T Rex because my son is just so obsessed with dinosaurs. The guy told me just blame Disney transportation. They are not Disney though.

Official response is that it's 15 minutes. We legitimately had an issue with the monorail breaking down from BLT to Epcot one day and were 30-ish minutes late for our dinner in Mexico. Our table was given away. They put us down as walk-ins, and we waited about 45 minutes for a table before we left to seek out food somewhere else.

It definitely depends on how popular/crowded the restaurant is. I have seen people being turned away at the steakhouse in Canada after being 20 minutes late. They were told their table was given away and unfortunately, there were no walk-ups available.

I would not book a 415 hoping to get in at 5 when you show up. As it is they ask you to check in 15 mins prior. I have heard that they charge the no show if you are late. I have seen them turn people away from popular places who showed up 15 mins late.

Honestly it depends on the restaurant, time of year you are going, whether the person in front of you was rude, a lot of others showed up late, etc. i would try to find places that have times you can live with. 30 days out, or the week before check back bc people will be canceling. Also check several times the day before and morning of. Now that all restaurants require a credit card guarantee a lot will book then cancel on their trip if they think they won't use it. I know people who got the best restaurants that way.

I think it is a different story if you are say stuck on the monorail and trapped versus just deciding to be late (they can check if that is true). If they give her table away they have to find a new spot which they might not be able to. I have a friend who was stuck on the monorail once and missed CRT they lost it bc they couldn't fit them in. They were nice and squeezed them in with a cancellation for another meal. Someplace like Marrakesh, or boatrights will be easier than CRT or chef mickeys that often doesn't take walk ins.

I guess it will be mostly counter service meals for us.

I will plan to check in at T Rex around 4:30 and take my time ordering. The guy said I could be late so I am assuming they are a bit more flexible. They always seem to take walk ins too, even if it is a 1.5 hr wait for a table.

Did you make the TRex through disney or the restaurant directly? If through disney try calling the restaurant directly they have a lot more openings. ADRs were completely booked but by calling TRex I could get anytime I wanted. Also if you book through the restaurant there is no credit card guarantee. I bet you could get away with it there bc TRex and other DTD take walk ins. Worst case you might have a long wait. I would try it there but not in the park popular places. The park restaurants during busy times don't take walk ins. We are only doing 3-4 dinners this trip bc of the cc guarantee. I always cancelled in the past but sometimes not until the morning of. Now you have to cancel by the night before. Too hard to know how my kids will be by that time. Last trip they did not always want to leave the pool to go change for dinner.

I called them directly. There was no availability on the Disney dining website.

I am hoping there are more cancellations next week right before we go. I know I was able to get Chef Mickey's and Ohana much closer to the date previously.

I think it varies. In some ways some restaurants have more availability bc fewer book with the cc guarantee bc they have to cancel the day before. But there will always be some who hold several popular ones then drop as it gets closer. I haven't been lucky to get anything good last minute but friends of ours have been. It is hit and miss.

I was 30 minutes late this week to Hollywood and Vine and they let me slide. I started to explain (late bus, rough morning, etc) but she told me not to worry. We waited like 5 minutes and we were seated. We also had a 4:15 reservation for a restaurant and it worked out really well. We weren't hungry later and we just had a late snack.
