EMPIRE/NYSHIP and breast pumps
Has anyone gotten a breast pump covered through Empire/NYSHIP.
I haven't tried calling yet, just seeing if they are covered.

EMPIRE/NYSHIP and breast pumps
Under the ACA:
Health insurance plans must provide breastfeeding support, counseling, and equipment for the duration of breastfeeding. These services may be provided before and after you have your baby.
These rules apply to Health Insurance Marketplace plans and all other health insurance plans, except for grandfathered plans.
So if someone has a new policy with Empire/NYSHIP and you don't, they could be covered and you may not be. The only way to find out is to call to find out if your specific policy includes Breast Pumps.

We have Empire /NYSHIP and I got a letter in the mail stating that breast pumps will be covered but renting hospital grade ones will not. I plan on calling soon to find out.

They're covered 100%.. You can get them through Edgepark & Byram and there's one more company that I forgot the name of!! There's a few different brands/models that are covered.

This. Edgepark seems pretty easy to deal with. Just google them and you'll get the number - call and you can order just no further than 30 days from your due date I believe. Good luck!

EMPIRE/NYSHIP and breast pumps
Not every Empire/NYSHIP plan covers breast pumps- the particular plan I have does not cover any durable medical equipment including breast pumps. The best thing to do is call and make sure your plan covers a pump.

I have Empire/NYSHIP and as of two years ago they where not covered. I called edge park to find out when I was having my youngest son. If anyone knows different that they changed there policy please let me know. I need a breast pump.

It depends on your particular policy. You will need to call your insurance company to find out and they will tell you if they are covered, and if they are, they will let you know which companies you can order from.

Also FYI - if covered, you have to be 30 days or less away from your EDD to order.

EMPIRE/NYSHIP and breast pumps
I have this plan and I had to call 30 days prior to reserve. I called edgepark and then I had my son and called to have them send me my pump. They lost my order. So I called Avalon or something else and they took care of me no problem. But it was 100% covered, no out of pocket at all.

I have NYSHIP/Empire Plan and my pump was fully covered. I used Byram Health- they were very easy! I called on a Wednesday and had the pump by Friday at my doorstep!
