Restless Leg Syndrome

Anyone else dealing with RLS? I know it can often occur during pregnancy. The past 2 weeks or so, I've had it really bad, only at night. It's such an uncomfortable and frustrating feeling! Has anyone discovered any remedies that work?

Restless Leg Syndrome

Yup. Almost every night. I can trace it to a spot on my back so I will try to stretch that area, rub it if I can reach it, or have DH dig his fist into the spot. Sitting on a yoga ball and bouncing a bit has helped too.

I went to the movies last night and I missed most of it b/c of RLS. I had to keep getting up and had to walk around the hallway outside the theater.

Re: Restless Leg Syndrome

Yes me too. Not sure what triggers it but usually if I Changed positions it would go away after a while

Re: Restless Leg Syndrome

OMG, talk to me about RLS. I have occasionally when not pregnant but when I am it's almost every night. Last night was so bad I barely slept.

Three things I can recommend.

1. Hot showers. And I mean hot. I've found it's worst just as I'm about to go to sleep. My thighs and butt will feel cold to the touch. I've tried heating blankets and warm clothes but nothing seems to penetrate and warm my muscles and get rid of the RLS like a screaming hot shower. Some nights I wind up taking a few b/c I either get out too soon or it comes back. My DH and I joke I'm the cleanest pregnant lady around.

2. Regular Tylenol. My grandmother had RLS and her doctor recommended 2 regular Tylenol. I've tried taking it as a preventative but I just didn't want to have more drugs than necessary in my system if not needed. I sometimes take it after RLS kicks in but I think by then it's too late.

3. Walking/stomping around. I guess it's the same theory as #1, warming the leg muscles from the inside. Thing is, since it comes on so late and night and I'm already exhausted the stomping around will wake me up too. That's why I opt for the showers.

From my past pregnancy I'll tell you it will go away after you have the baby but in the meantime it's awful. GL ladies!!!

Yes, I have been going crazy for months because of this. Always at night when I'm getting tired and attempting to get comfortable. I don't think it actually helps much but usually if I rub lotion on my legs for a bit I feel a little less irritated.

Sorry to crash but when I was pregnant I had RLS it got worse the more pregnant I got! The only thing that helped was to stretch my legs. I used to have my SO stretch my legs for me as I got bigger and it became more difficult Chat Icon
