Delaware/Maryland/Virginia-- DAY activities?
DH's family is thinking about driving down to the Carolina's for vacation. I want to fly. However, if we have to drive, I was thinking we could stay at a hotel one or two nights on the way down and spend a day doing something. For instance, if we were to drive through PA (which we won't be) we could do Sesame Place. Anything ideas like that in Delaware, Maryland or Virginia?

What about DC for a day? All the museums/monuments are free.

DC, as previous poster said, museums are free, as is the zoo. A cool museum that many people don't know about is the building museum, has great building programs for the kids. Baltimore has an awesome aquarium, science center, kids museum (Port Discovery), and train museum (B and O Railroad), but they are all a little pricey. ETA: No real amusement parks till you hit Kings Dominion and Busch Gardens in VA. Delaware has tons of rides on the coast, but I don't think you would be going that way. I grew up in Baltimore, and my parents now split their time between Baltimore and Delaware at the beach, if you have any more questions.
