walking shoes
my dd just started cruising. i know that they are supposed to be barefoot until they fully learn to walk.
just started looking into walking shoes for the spring. i know everyone says stride rite is best, but to be honest most of their shoes are pretty ugly.
are there any other good first walking shoes? especially summer walking shoes?

I didn't buy son stride rite. I'm probably a terrible mother. He turned 1 last May, and he had a pair of keen style sandals from target, I think they were a carters brand. Then I bought him converse for the past two shoes, as well as a pair of workish boots for winter.
I think the carters shoes can be cute!

Check out see kai run. I buy more striderite because they are more accessible, but I've gotten a few pairs of see kai and I much prefer their designs over striderite.

We have shoes from stride rite. I agree that the styles aren't very attractive, but I like going there because they measure the baby's foot so well.

When my son started cruising, I went to target and bought a pair of circo soft soled sandals. He lived in those the entire spring into summer.

We bought soft soled shoes from carters when he was just starting for outside etc. When DS really started walking i went to the stride rite outlet - they aren't always the cutest but they last awhile and are a good shoe. I would get a pair of good solid shoes for everyday use and get some cute and fun shoes to mix it up here and there. For summer DS lived in sandals - the full coverage type that velcro around the ankles.

I think pedipeds are supposed to be good too. They're on zulily today!
FWIW, I've bought some stride rites that I was just ehh about but once DD started wearing them I always thought they looked so cute. I love the mary jane styles for spring since they go well with dresses and pants.

My DD's first walking shoes were Stride Rite but only because my parents bought them for her. I agree, they tend to be ugly AND they are so expensive.
Since that first pair I'll buy shoes most anyway now but for sneakers specifically, she's usually always in Skechers. They are durable and super cute and I've gotten them as low at $20 when on sale. Love them!
