Moms of boys...re: baptism outfits

What did your DS wear? I'm having such a hard time finding one I love. My SIL got this one for him, and it is nice, and fits him well, but it is 2 pieces, and the shirt comes untucked when I pick him up, or if he raises his arms. Even though he won't wear the outfit all day, it will make me really unhappy if he looks sloppy like this during the several hours that he is wearing the outfit. Not to mention, the hem of the shirt isn't even a finished hem...it is just the surged edge. Also, the material is kind of a stiff satin. I'm running out of time, and have been to just about every store that sells christening outfits, but can't find one that I love yet.

Is there some way to do something to this outfit to keep the shirt tucked in?

I am a fan of gowns for both girls and boys. When I had my first ds, my mom purchased a linen christening gown from an Irish shop. My thought was that I would use the same gown for any future children as well. I ended up having 3 more boys and they all wore it, and i hope maybe someday their children will wear it too.

Big fan of gowns for both boys & girls here too!
My DS wore a gown made by MY Godmother that she had for all 3 of her boys. All their names & Christening dates are embroidered on the gown too.

Then afterwards for the restaurant he wore a comfy outfit.

Julian wore something very similar to what's pictured in the link above.

I had an issue with the sloppliness of the seperates too but then was able to find a one piece romper that was long sleeve and had a sewn in vest and tie. I felt like it was the perfect solution because had the look of seperates but was one piece and didn't look sloppy when we were holding him.

This is exactly what I'm looking for. Where did you get yours?

This is similar to what we got my DS.

it was a one piece, tie and vest attached - although the piece itself was short sleeved, it came with an overcoat. We got ours at Tri Country.

I actually went to a store in queens by my sister in laws (she was buying the outfit). It was a pretty small store and while most of the options were seperates or gowns this one wound up being exactly what I was looking for. It was a few years ago. Not sure where you're located but I can find out the name if you want.

Thank you. I'm in Suffolk, and the baptism is Sunday. Chat Icon Thank you anyway. I think I'm going to take the shirt to the tailor and see if they can attach the bottom of a onesie to it, like the shirts in TCP are.

Good luck. Your son is beautiful and even if you keep the outfit as is all everyone will notice is how adorable he looks!

Agree. They have a great selection of boys outfits. We purchased a gown for DS from them and he wore it for the party.

I had my dry cleaner out snaps on the shirt and a onesie and I snapped them together - worked perfectly

I was going to suggest this.

Or check out the Little shop for babies in Smithtown, I think its on terry rd just south of 347 now.

Also I ahve seen nice outfits in sears.

My DSs both wore one peice outfits.

Re: Moms of boys...re: baptism outfits

Thanks everybody. I found beatiful ones at both Little Dickens, and Little Shop for Babies. Neither of them fit him just right (legs too long, torso too short), plus they were $$$. I ended up taking the shirt I have to the tailor, and they're going to attach the bottom half of a onesie to it so that it will stay put. I think it will be perfect. She said they've done it plenty of other times, so it should be good.
