graco child seat harness recall
not sure if this has been posted yet, but there is a recall on some of the graco child seat harnesses.
the seat seems to be safe - but they will send you a replacement harness if you have one of the effected models:
here is what their site says:
Potential Problem:
As part of our continuous product testing and improvement process, Graco identified that food and dried liquids that can make some harness buckles progressively more difficult to open over time or become stuck in the latched position. Therefore, Graco has decided to conduct a voluntary recall on the harness buckles used on all toddler convertible car seats and harnessed booster seats manufactured from 2009 to July 2013. Graco would like to stress this does not in any way affect the performance of the car seat or the effectiveness of the buckle to restrain the child. And a car seat is always the safest way to transport your child.
Injuries Reported: 0
Number of Units Affected: 3.7 million
Dates Produced: 2009 through July 2013
MSRP: $99.00-$399.99
Models Affected: Toddler Convertible Car Seats: Cozy Cline, Comfort Sport, Classic Ride 50, My Ride 65, My Ride 70, My Ride 65 with Safety Surround, Size4Me 70, My Size 70, Head Wise 70, Smart Seat. Harnessed Booster Seats: Nautilus 3-in-1, Nautilus Elite and Argos.
Solution:
Graco offers a new and improved replacement harness buckle to affected consumers at no cost. If you are experiencing difficulty with your harness buckle and cleaning has not improved its performance, please contact our Graco customer service team at 800-345-4109 (Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m.) or [email protected].

Mine has been sticky since the first time I used it. I contacted Graco right away and they said to clean it. I said it was brand new... I stopped using it early last year... I have the Graco Nautilus. My son used it for less then a year.

Funny, we have several Nautiluses and my inlaws complain all the time about theirs being hard to open. Mine is older, so it's not an issue.

Funny, we have several Nautiluses and my inlaws complain all the time about theirs being hard to open. Mine is older, so it's not an issue.
I just got a Nautilus 3 in 1 for DH's truck and I notice it's much harder to open than my Britax.
Hmmmm.

I think it's pretty much all of them manufactured between 2009 and 2013.

i hate the MyRide b/c the buckle is so damn hard. Glad it's not just me. Most people I talk to never had that problem. My Britax is awesome lol. I stopped using the seat I will get a replacement and see

We have 3 MyRides and a Nautilus. 2 of the MyRides have the newer style buckle as does the Nautilus. One of the MyRides sits in the basement unused because of it, it's a major PITA. Graco did redesign the buckle again this year so newer seats may not be affected by it.
The seats are still safe to use, btw, the recall is not a safety issue

I had to cut my son out of a nautilus in November. Not fun. They were god about it though and sent me a check when i shipped the seat back to them. Bought a britax.

I've had problems with my Nautilius buckle, too. I thought it was the extreme cold weather. I called the 800 number and they are sending me a new buckle.

I returned the Argos the day after I purchased it because it locked twice on me in 1 day and I couldn't get it open. Dh had to help me. When I called graco they said they never get complaints like that  I guess I wasn't the only one!

I thought it was just me, because I've had an issue at times trying to unlatch the car seat. I have a safety surround.

We have the Size4Me in DH's car, and I have a terrible time unfastening the latch. DH always has no problem, so I figured it was just due to my poor fine motor skills. I find my Britax Marathon so much easier!

It's probably because it's unlikely food would be caught in the buckle since babies probably won't be eating solids while they are in the car seat.

I thought I read that you can request a new buckle for those if you want even though they're not part of the recall. I'm not positive but may be worth checking out if you're concerned.

Did you have to provide serial numbers or anything? We have 4 of these seats and I was going to call but I dont have any info on me
