Table Foods

DS has been eating mum mums and puffs for about a month and a half. He's got it down pat. We started Cheerios over the weekend and he seems to do really well with them. He "chews" them. I want to try and give him other table foods. I peeled and cut up plums and bananas. He LOVES them and even when I held the plum he was trying to bite it and suck on it. He just can't pick them up. It's like they are too slimy. He gets mad and then starts hitting the highchair in frustration. He can eat them no problem.

What else can I give him (he's 7.5 months old and I know he can pick up and chew food - hence the Cheerios)? I'm trying to think of something not as slippery as the plums and bananas.

Table Foods

try apples, but use a papertowel or napkin to dry the outside of it. Hailey also has issues with the slimey foods. I cant cut up a banana, i cut it into 3rds and she will hold it.

Re: Table Foods

If you slightly over steam frozen broccoli florets, the flower part of the florets are super tender and fall off easily. Dd had no problem picking them up.

Meatball squashed/ cutinto small pieces

Scrambled eggs mixed w/ water to thin it out a little

Little pieces of poached chicken cutlets

Tubettini macaroni (ronzoni) slightly over cooked so tender

Dr. praegers spinach patties squashed / cut into small pieces

You can dust the slippery stuff with cheerio dust to make it easier to pick up. I used to put banana on a fork for DD and she would feed herself with that. Within a week or two she got the hang of picking them up with her fingers though.

You can give little pieces of toast, pancake, pasta, steamed broccoli, peas, carrots, cut berries, mango, meatballs. Anything soft really.
