Vacation while pregnant?
My husband and I would like to plan an all inclusive vacation with my sister-in-law and her husband, for about the time when ill be 5-6 months. We loved and would go back to Excellence in Mexico but I'm anxious about traveling there.
Has anyone gone to Mexico or other tropical locations while pregnant? What was your experience and where would you recommend?

Vacation while pregnant?
I went to Aruba while I was 6 1/2 months pregnant. I had no issues and had a great time. I was just more careful when it came to foods. For example, cheese. In the US pretty much all cheeses are pasterized but that is not the case in other countries so I avoided cheeses while I was there.

Went to DR and I stayed away from raw veggies (which bother me any way), ensured my meats were always well cooked, and stayed away from all cheeses/dairy unless they were pre-packaged and labeled (ie: yogurt was okay.)

We are going to an AI in Jamaica when I will be 5 months pregnant. I agree with the girls watch the cheeses, make sure meats are cooked but other than that enjoy!

Vacation while pregnant?
I'm going on a cruise next week, at 9-10 weeks. Aside from food be careful of drinking water.

I think you will be fine, just be careful with food and water in Mexico. That would be the only thing that would worry me.
This might not happen to you but while pregnant I hated laying in the sun and being hot. I usually love the beach and the sun, but sonething changed while pregnant both times. That wouldn't stop me from going though. Just laid under an umbrella.

i went to the bahamas when i was in the first trimester with my 1st pregnancy. i was told not to drink the tap water & i stayed away from fish but thats about it!!

I have traveld with each of my pregnancies and I will be with this one also. Just clear it with your Dr. first. There is no reason not to go if you are having an uncomplicated pregnancy and feel well.

We did Turks and Caicos when I was about 26 weeks. I wanted tropical and somewhere with a short and non-stop flight.

Vacation while pregnant?
Went to The Occidental in Rivera Maya, Mexico when I was only 5 weeks pregnant and then Costa Rica at 23 weeks pregnant.
In Mexico I was EXHAUSTED! But when we went to Costa Rica we LITERALLY sat by the pool (well I was so hot I was IN the pool the whole time) the whole time! We did nothing else, except a prenatal massage...AMAZING!
I drank virgin drinks both weeks and make sure to ONLY drink bottled water. We bought a case on site. The dr also told me if you are used to using 15SPF, use 30. Your skin is more sensitive when pregnant. When flying, move around the plane often to avoid swelling. My feet BLEW up anyway but I elevated them at night and when I was sleeping and would wake up and my feet would be fine.

how far along do you guys think would be too late to travel anywhere by plane? is there a cut off? 30 weeks? or is it your comfort level at that time.

Vacation while pregnant?
We decided on and book Excellence Playa Mujeres in Mexico. We had been there (along with all other Excellence resorts) and I loved them all. Feel comfortable bc they are clean and safe.

I went to Bahamas when I was 7 months and it was fine. We did the excellence in Mexico and it was awesome that was pure baby but I highly recommend it

My sister is an OB and she said you can fly up until 36 weeks but I would ask your doctor. Some doctors have different opinions on this.
