hotel reccs in W.Hollywood/Beverly Hills... and LA question

I'd love some hotel suggestions. Ideally looking to spend $200 or less a night. We'll be there for two nights. Last time we stayed at the Renaissance, right by the walk of fame, but looking for something different this time. Good location would probably be my #1 factor. I'm open to other nearby areas (i'm not familiar with the neighboring areas - don't even know what they are lol) but we won't have a car, so that's a consideration.

Also - i've never been to downtown LA. What's there, anything worth seeing/doing? I picture it to be all office buildings and nothing "fun"

G to the huckleberry inn cafe in Santa Monica for brunch. Best I've ever had in my life. Would fly just to eat there. Also parks Korean BBQ is a must.

I stayed at the chamberlain in la. Not sure the price though but I I highly recommend it

Beverly Hilton is a nice clean hotel.
Downtown is Olivera street, staples center.... Not a ton. What did you do last time? I can suggest other things.

We stayed at the Sofitel across from the Beverly Center and had a wonderful experience. Probably one of the nicest hotels I've ever stayed in.

We stayed at the Le Parc Suite Hotel and it was really nice. Around the block from STK on a residential street. It's like an apartment building that was turned into a hotel. The restaurant was really good too, but we only ate breakfast there.
