Man.. like forever ago!
Always washable until around 2. But she had them when we moved to TX so... 9m I guess

Finger paint not so much. I hated the mess! LOL She prefers to paint with a brush anyway.

Washable crayons around 14 months I think. She loves to color.

She just got finger paints for christmas so 20 months. Loves finger painting and I don't even find it all that messy (crayola washable). I put her in the high chair at the table and she wears a smock. She also loves water colors and paint with water books since about 18 months.

Re: Coloring

Finger paints 5 months. I would put them in the bathtub and let them go crazy.

Crayons by 10-11 months old they would color at restaurants. Once they showed interest while out to eat I started letting them color at home.

DS started using pens we have at home around 10.5m so we began giving him crayons at restaurants. He's not good with them yet, but he's stopped eating them!

Finger paints just sound too messy.

Re: Coloring

I gave her crayons for Christmas. She was 18m.

Aaaaaaaaaand she colored all over my HONY book when I went to the kitchen for a split second.

Coloring Elmo all nicely at her little table, mommy gets up, BAM, let me autograph this book.

Better the book than the wall though. LOL.
