Sick or am I getting played
Ds is 10 months He was sick last week. I took him to the dr on tues and the dr saw a little fluid in his ears but nothing to treat,. Over the past few days he is much better during the day no fever and less and less stuffy. But he is waking up a lot at night. The thing is when I go get him he is all smiles. I guess my question is if it were his ears bothering him would he be laughing and smiling when I get him.
I was going to take him back to the ped today but with the snow I may wait till tom.
I really think he is playing me but I don't want to let him CIO if something is bothering him.

Sick or am I getting played
If his ears were bothering him he'd be upset during the day and when you go to get him...
He could be waking himself up since he's stuffy.

Re: Sick or am I getting played
I never knew my son had any ear infections until we ended up at the dr for something else! He had BAD ones and the only sign something was wrong was a fever sometimes. He always had fluid in his ears. From 6 months on. It was associated with his teething... Last summer he had a high fever, we went to the pedi on a Tuesday, ears were fine. Fever broke. Two days later high fever was back. Back to the pedi for blood work, ears fine. No fluid or redness... By Saturday his fever spiked to 104 and off to the ER we went. To my surprise he had a raging ear infection! Laying down makes the pressure build up..

Sick or am I getting played
When DS is sick and wakes a few nights in a row he will kepp doing it for while after just becuase he gets into the habit. If you go in and he is smiling i would put him lying down and let him cry for a few minutes. Afer a night r 2 of this they usually go back to sleeping all night. They really do know how to play us.

Could be, laying down puts pressure on an ear infection even when they seem fine when they are awake.

Re: Sick or am I getting played
I don't think a 10 month old can play you like that. If you said the child was 3-4 then fine, but at ten months I think your DC does not feel well and is letting you know in the bet way he or she can.

Sick or am I getting played
He's only 10 months. I don't think he is old enough to be manipulative like that.

I definitely think it's entirely possible to be played by a 10 month old! The hard thing is, you just can't ever be certain. Teething is probably a big part of it too. If it continues, for my own peace of mind I would take him to get his ears checked, just to rule it out. Hopefully, it's not.

I agree. Is he crying when hes awake? DD is 10 months also and she wakes up a lot at night still. Last night to be exact. She was up for a long time too. But since she was just babbling and sitting up not crying I didn't go in She went back to sleep and even slept in this morning lol. She's getting over a cold and she's def teething.

Sick or am I getting played
They can certainly play you at that age. My DD would pretend to cry to get attention when whe was only 7 months. Litterly eyes closed and making the crying sounds but she would laugh the minute you gave her attention. We have video of it and it was very funny. In my experience if something works for them they will keep it up until you try to break the habit.

Re: Sick or am I getting played
It couldn't hurt to check with the ped again. We went through this about a month ago with my dd who is almost 2. She had been sick and has had ear infections before, but the ped didn't see anything and just gave us cough medicine. I thought maybe she got into a bad habit with us coming in and comforting her in the middle of the night when she woke up. After 2 weeks I took her back to the ped and she had a bad ear infection.
Once on the antibiotic she stopped waking up in the middle of the night.
