Question for those who are going to have an amnio
DH and I know that we will have an amnio. We're trying to decide if it makes sense to do the MaterniT21 test first.
Regardless of the MaterniT21 results, we'll have the amnio. My thinking is that if something shows up on the test, we'd have another 6 weeks before we could get the amnio results. That's 6 weeks of worry.
My question is specifically for those who are definitely going to have an amnio. Are you doing both?

Question for those who are going to have an amnio
I had an amnio. I didn't have the option of the MaterniT21.
I don't think I would have had it anyway. It does not give a complete picture of things. It only tests for certain things and I wanted to know yes or no.
I never had the NT scan at 12 weeks because I knew if it came back bad I would just worry.
Did you consider the CVS? My coworker and my sister both decided on that test.
If you have any questions about the actual amnio let me know. The lead up to it is more stressful than the actual test.

I am not considering the CVS at all. I had an amnio with DD, so this won't be my first time. I'm not stressed out about that part of this.
DH and I had another discussion about the MaterniT21 earlier. I think we're leaning towards skipping it since it can't give the kind of information an amnio can.
Thanks for your reply

Re: Question for those who are going to have an amnio
We did the Counsyl test, and the NT scan, both came back excellent. We were given the option of MaterniT21, but we skipped it. If something shows on our early anatomy scan or Level II show something, we'll do an amnio.

Re: Question for those who are going to have an amnio
I had an amnio with DD. She was born with a chromosomal abnormality (which was not picked up on the amnio), so when I got PG with DS, I knew I was going to have an amnio or a CVS. The geneticist said not to bother with the MaterniT21. Said it was pointless since I was having a real chromosomal test. We opted for the CVS because it could be done earlier than the amnio. We also asked to have a "microarray" performed on the fluid instead of the standard chromosomal tests. That test would have found the error with DD's chromosome.

Re: Question for those who are going to have an amnio
I knew from day one I was going to have an amnio so I skipped all other testing. My Dr said there was no reason for it if I was having an amnio because the amnio would tell everything those other tests would and then some.

Question for those who are going to have an amnio
I'm not planning on an amnio right now. I might do MaterniT21, depending on how much it will cost. From what I understand, the amnio would test for everything the MaterniT21 tests for and more. So, if I were definitely doing amnio, I wouldn't do both.
