Transition from rock n play sleeper to crib

My ds is 5 weeks old n is starting to sleep through the night. Im not sure when is a good time to transition him to his crib. Im a little nervous bc the sleeper is on an incline n so different then a crib.

What did u do when u transitioned ur dc?

Did ur dc have a difficult time?

Did you put towels under mattress to make it an incline?

How old was ur dc when u did it?

Any other info is helpful.. Thank u!

We transitioned DD at 4 months. I used DH's text books to prop up one end and then slowly lowered it a text book at a time over the course of like 10 days until she was flat

DD was just about 5 months. Basically we waited until we absolutely had to move her, bc she was sitting up and almost tipping over. We had tried for months to have her nap in the crib with no luck, so I really was dreading the transition at night, but believe it or not it went very smoothly. I think she was just ready for the extra room at that point.

We just started transitioning DS around 3.5 months. We inclined the mattress which helped, and used a positioner. It took a few tries, and we went back to the RNP since he was waking up so frequently, but now that he is swaddled, he sleeps all night in the crib no problem.

DD was 4 months. She transitioned fine. I wasn't able to sleep that first night, but she was! We used a wedge under the mattress then eventually took it out. Now we only use the wedge when she's sick.

Transition from rock n play sleeper to crib

I bought the crib wedge... Waste of $ in my opinion... At first I put the pack n play with bassinet attachment and crib wedge in my room to get her used to laying flatter but still be next to me. I did that for about 4 days, then I took out the crib wedge for like 5 days then moved her to the crib in her room with no issues. She LOVED her crib and her room...

My friend put the rock n play in her sons room first, then put rolled up towels under the mattress for like 5-7 days then took them out... Also no issues...

And I had another friend who just moved her dd from rnp in her nursery straight to the crib and no issues.

We did it at 3.5 mo. We elevated the crib on one side for about a week. Started swaddled then after about 2 weeks we used the sleep sack arms out

We did it around 4 months. Why are you looking to do it so quickly?

Re: Transition from rock n play sleeper to crib

About a week ago at almost 5.5 months

He actually doesn't sleep in his crib, but in his pack n play next to our bed. We like having him in the same room as us still.

I bought a crib wedge but he's actually been fine with sleeping flat so far.

The transition wasn't as difficult as I thought it would be. I think it's because he was feeling cramped in his car seat & likes being able to spread out so he's actually more comfortable now.

He slept in the rock n play for the first 3-4 months when he started to rock himself too hard in it so I thought it wasn't safe anymore, then his car seat, until last weekend when we finally put him in the pack n play.

DH holds his hand to help him fall asleep. I think if we put him in his crib & left the room right away, he wouldn't be okay with that at this point. Maybe we'll try his crib a few months from now. I think the fact that he's right next to our bed helps him feel safe & fall asleep.

Re: Transition from rock n play sleeper to crib

We did it slowly. I had a crib wedge that I put under the sheets. I swaddle my DS (he loves this) and put him in the crib while still awake. He falls asleep in minutes but had a hard time staying asleep and needs to be patted or have the pacifier put back in. I started with all naps in the rock in play in his room for a week. Then I switched to all naps in the crib in his room. Now I am doing putting him in there for the night as well. He is actually sleeping better and his head is getting less flat.
