Starting solids
DD will be 6 mos next week and is EBF. Her ped told us this morning that we can start introducing solids, but he didn't give any real "instructions". He just said not to stress over it, start with cereal, then meats, then veggies, then fruit. He's a very laid back ped and sometimes I feel like I need a little more guidance. Can you guys give me some suggestions? TIA!

Starting solids
I skipped cereal bc I didn't find it necessary.
We started with avocado, sweet potato, banana, pears. Just introduced a new food every 3 days to monitor for allergies. I mashed them up then thinned out with BM/formula. At first they eat so little...maybe 1-2 tbsp.
I didn't gives meats until 9mo or so.
Wholesomebabyfood is a great, great resource. It suggests foods that are appropriate for each month range.
Good luck!

Re: Starting solids
I started with Rice cereal, then after a few weeks barley, and then I started veggies then fruits. My ped told me to try each one for 2 weeks (watching for any reactions) and then move on to the next starting with green veggies first and then moving on to fruits.

I started with oatmeal. IMO its a good starter as it doesn't taste like much so they can just focus on swallowing. From there I went with fruits and veggies. Just picked one off the shelf and tried it for 3 days so check for any reaction.
There is no right or wrong. You can give whatever you feel like. Don't stress about it because your Ped is right. There is no science to it.

Re: Starting solids
I started with rice. Gave some fruits and veggies. Gave oatmeal. He has tolerated everything fine. At 6.5 months I gave yogurt. I still havent done meat but soon. He will be 7 months.

Re: Starting solids
we started oatmeal at 4 months, he ate it, but didn't really seem to enjoy it. after 2 weeks we went to veggies, then fruits. By 6-7 months we started meat blends (stage 2 meals). He loved all of that (unless it was peas or green beans or they were in it!).
our ped was very relaxed about it all too!

Re: Starting solids
We started at 5 months with oatmeal cereal. After a week we did veggies and fruits. Once she made it through all stage 1 we introduced stage 2.
I had stopped giving her the oatmeal cereal when I did veggies and fruits and pedi said I should keep giving it. It's a good source of nutrition. I use earths best oatmeal cereal or multiple grain cereal. It's iron fortified.
It took dd a week to get it and enjoy eating off a spoon but once she did she loved it!

It's easy to swallow cereal and it tastes like your milk since you mix it with milk. basically, it's learning to swallow this new stuff. Lots of fun with pics to follow! I started with soupy cereal at first, then thickened it as we went along. 2Tbsp. to start, but they could eat more. Don't panic if he won't eat it all at first, it's still new.
I then did Bananas, apples, mango, pear, peach, avocado etc. 3 days in a row for each to ensure they're not allergic.
Then veggies, same thing. Many moms on here swear by greens first, then the sweet squashes and orange veggies to ensure they get a taste for them.
I then did meat, which I always then paired with veggies followed by fruit.

I skipped the cereal as per peds because it has no nutritional value and did orange veggies very watered down and pureed. From there I tried fruit and the last thing I ever introduced was meat and I waited until she could just eat small pieces of meat. I didn't think pureed meat looked that appetizing LOL
Go to wholesomebabyfoods.com or something google it. They have the best recipes and give you ideas of appropriate age ranges to introduce foods.
