am i crazy - 4 yr old Bday party help
DD will be turning 4 this year, and i really wanted to give her a kids bday party this year. I am not interested in doing a big party at a place, because it's just too expensive. so DH and i were thinking about having it at our house.
we wanted to limit the invite list so instead of inviting kids from her preschool, it's just some close friends of the family (which are mostly my friend's kids that i'd "have" to invite anyway)...i'm thinking 10-12 kids (ages 3-6)
DD's bday is in april, so the weather is so iffy. it its outdoors i could get a bouncy house, my friend paints faces, and some other outdoor things and we'd be done. however, if it's not good weather, then we're inside. What do i do with them? I can still do the face painting, but what else????
oh, and i'd be 7 month preggo. is this crazy to do at home??

Not crazy - I had my sons 5 yo birthday party at home both school friends (10 kids) and a separate one for our close friends and family (12 kids) and I was 9 months pregnant.
If it rains the face paainting will be sufficient and the toys your son already has. KIds like to play with each other and make up things. You can also do pin the tail on the donkey or a little craft. I got some at oriental trading and Michaels.
Remember as long as it isn't raining kids can always play outside for a little while.

I have only done at home parties... I hate parties out. You could do a craft, or do an ice-cream/cupcake decoration bar, you could do games like twister or simon says. I say go for it!

Truthfully, I wouldn't do it at the house. After you get the food for kids and adults and the entertainment, I'm pretty sure it will cost you more. Plus, the amount of time cleaning before and after. You're going to be 7 months pregnant and tired. I would go for the play place. Kids will be entertained and your DD will have a blast!

Love home parties, I would do it at home. Less rushed, and no time restraints.

We had the Party Bus cone to our house last year for DS bday. It was perfect.

I agree. If you plan on renting a bouncy house, that can be expensive. You should price out places before deciding.

A party at home is not necessarily cheaper then having it at a place.
But it can be done. The bouncy house an face painter should be enough. My dd is at the end of march, some have parties out. Don't want to take a chance with the weather. My oldest is sept., so we've done a few home parties and they've been fun.

True, but if you rent a bouncer, you have it all day. If you go to a party, you have it for an hour.
