For those that are “one and done”
I don’t know why I’ve been thinking about this, DD is only 20 months…But, what are you planning to say (or what have you said) when your LO asks for a sibling?

Re: For those that are “one and done”
My DD is 3.5 and has never asked for a sibling. I keep waiting for it and she never does. I know at school they talk about their siblings but she has not once said to me- Mommy I want a sister or I want a brother. I think she likes being the only child. She LOVES full attention on her. When cousins come over, she doesn't like that my mom splits her time between the grandchildren. She wants grandma ALL to herself. I think that carries over to mommy and daddy too. So so far, so good.
If she does ask, I will say, that all families are different and in OUR family we only have one child. And that we can give her all of our love.

Thanks.
Maybe she'll never ask me either. She has a cousin who lives super close too (and they're always together), so maybe she won't miss a sibling, since he'll be like one.

Re: For those that are “one and done”
My goddaughter asked her mom once. Her mom told her that if she had a sibling she would have to share everything including her mom and dad. My goddaughter quickly changed her mind and never asked again.

My DD has this too. And she sometimes refers to him as her brother. So I think she is good!

For those that are “one and done”
We're not 100% sure we are one and done, but most likely. My DD is 2.5 and she hasnt asked for a sibling yet. Ive asked her if she wants a baby brother or a sister and she says "no, just us" lol. She has a new baby cousin who is 4 months and older cousin so I think she will be close to them. If she does end up asking one day, I'll just tell her that all families are different like the PP mentioned.

Re: For those that are “one and done”
She's 5 and has never asked. She has at one point or another called another child her brother or sister. But it wore off.
She knows that her friends have siblings but I honestly believe she loves being an only child. We do a LOT of us time, us stuff and bond (even now) she curls up on me and we sit around playing with each other's hair saying nothing. She and I are best friends and she's my favorite little girl and I'm her favorite mama
She is learning that most people here have LOTS of kids and they share their parents. The younger ones scream and yell and demand the parents attention and the ones AJ's age are also trying to vie for attention while older siblings tease and or ignore. AJ is pretty observant and will say things to me like "I don't want a brother like that" or "are all sisters like that" which of course I say no. I have brothers and a sister and hubby has a brother and sister too. We love them and we speak of them well. HECK my brother LIVES with me!
But she 'gets it' I think and for the moment she is very content being the one and only, love of my life, everything for you.. girl. Also lately she has understood Money vs Things. I pay for light, food, water, the house etc. I have to work hard and sometimes late or even travel so she can have all those things. But I also work hard so we can go to Disney and have fun. We can't do lots of stuff but we can also do some stuff. She knows I can only afford the 3 of us, not anymore. Uncle Danny doesn't come on our trips because 3's our limit. If he comes, he pays for himself. So I think she knows having another child would also greatly reduce those things as well.

I am going to say what my mom always said to me when I asked why I didn't have any siblings: "I stopped at perfection". Lol

Yeah, I think some kids genuinely enjoy being an only child. I hope my DD is one of those kids.

I love this! And honestly, for me, it is SO true. I am complete. We are complete. I have never felt so sure of anything in my life. I can't even imagine having another.

Re: For those that are “one and done”
That honestly never even crossed my mind. She is already so close to her cousins, hopefully she won't ask. But some of the replies on here have actually been pretty creative.

For those that are “one and done”
My DS is 8 and loves being an only child. Whenever we ask if he'd like a sibling, the answer is always a resounding "NO!" He is very social and loves spending time with his friends and cousins but does not want a sibling. He's happy - we're happy. I hope he always feels that way.

For me I just can't be pregnant again.
My ex is with a woman who has two kids and ds has started calling them his brother and sister. Oh well
