Re: Anyone do their own newborn shoot?
Adorable! I would get Lightroom, you can download a trial if you don't have it. It works wonders! There are a lot of free presets out there also...just google!

Those are great! They just need to be edited to get that professional look. Did you shoot in RAW? DH edits our photos in aperture on our Mac. Every newborn photographer edits photos to even out skin, lighten shadows etc.
Thanks! I don't shoot in RAW - I wouldn't even know how to import them!
I totally want to learn photoshop, but I don't want to spend the money on a class (or the time!). For now I am enjoying being a momtographer!
If you have Lightroom you can import them no problem and even PS has a camera raw addon.
And to keep it simple, Picasa can open raw.
Thanks. If I imported raw into Picasa, how would I edit?
Picasa is an editing program but not great for this sort of thing. Definitely get Lightroom, it was really easy to learn it.

Re: Anyone do their own newborn shoot?
Neither of my boys have been to a professional photographer - except for their daycare pictures .......
I have a DLSR that I"m pretty good with. I have gorgeous pictures of them ....
Especially as babies. it's SO EASY - they don't MOVE !!
Now, at 2.5 and 4.5 I think i'm going to hire someone to do a family shoot in the spring/summer b/c a. they don't stay still any more. b. I'm not IN any pictures !!

Gorgeous baby and you did a fantastic job IMO. A photographer I used recommended I print my photos through MPIX website because of the quality paper they use.I was really happy with them.

Anyone do their own newborn shoot?
Looks like you did a great job.
I believe Adobe is still offering creative cloud for 9.99/mo for Lightroom/Photoshop, otherwise, LR is about $150ish and worth EVERY penny.

Try Picasa before you go and spend money. It's amazing what you can do. With Picasa, you can do several actions. For instance, you can turn it black and white and then add shadows, then crop and add a frame.
Don't get me wrong, I love photoshop, but picasa is where I do my quick edits.

You did a great job!!!!! Wow!! Honestly I think they look great without Photoshop. I do use it but I don't like to go overboard. I've always liked natural looking photos.
