For Moms Who Did IVF
How do you (or plan to) answer the question: "How did I get in your belly?"
I have stalled for time

For Moms Who Did IVF
I have not IVF , but My dear friend had this convo with her twins recently and she told them that the doctor helped to put them in her belly because something wasn't working right inside mommy. I don't know how old your child is but they were learning about this in health so she explained best she could without over explaining if you know what I mean...

For Moms Who Did IVF
There was this one night when my then 4-year old son asked me "how did you have me" (or was it how did you get me), I told him the story that we waited so long for him, we tried so hard to have a baby, we kept praying and praying that we be blessed with a child, and that the doctors also helped us in our journey to have him come into our lives.

It will be something like this. When dd is much older I would go into more detail if she wanted.

I plan on telling LO the same way even if I didn't have IVF... He is a blessing from God and he put him there. Once he understands and gets older I'll explain our fertility struggles.

Re: For Moms Who Did IVF
I never thought i would have to tell my kids I did IVF but at this point I think from my point of view there are probably 50/50 that when they get old enough IVF is unfortunately normal. And the reason I say that is because sitting in a waiting room for a mammo 7 women randomly started talking and 6/7 had family grand kids or had themselves experienced IVF and were talking about it. A few years ago i don't think it was so openly talked about.

Lol! I love that shirt! We call our kid "chemical romance" We have good pictures of his embryo in his childhood albumns. He will know as soon as he can keep a secret and not tell one of the grandmas who isn't very smart.

Re: For Moms Who Did IVF
DD baby book has a page called "How I came to be". On that page I wrote about our experience with IVF in the simplest but honest of terms. Basically it is about how some parents make a wish for a baby and it comes true. For some parents though, all the wishes in the world are not enough. For some parents you need to add patience and love. And when that doesn't work, like when you are sick, you go to the Dr. I went on to write that our Dr. said that she would be possible if we continued to have patience. When the time was right, a baby would choose us more than we would choose them. The month we got pregnant, there were 4 choices. We were told that this was the moment one would choose us. We watched as she grew stronger than the other 3 and fought to be our daughter. 3 days later the Dr. put her in my belly. It was like getting a very big shot. It wasn't so bad because at that time she was only the size a little dot you could see only with a magnified glass. A dot we knew nothing about, but still a dot we loved so much. Over the next 9 months we got to know each other better and our love for each other grew even stronger. We plan to buy her a little silver rattle at some point that has her name on it and says "thank you for choosing us".

Something like this for my DD if it looked like she was going to or talking about having children later in life ...or if she has any issues that my affect her chances of getting pregnant. I feel there is not need to get into it.

Re: For Moms Who Did IVF
I haven't taken the scientific approach of explanation yet bc I really feel like my 3 yr ols is too young to understand. So when he asked me - I told him that I wanted him so very much that I prayed to God to send Daddy and I the best baby boy ever...so God planted a seed in my belly...and the seed grew into him.

Re: For Moms Who Did IVF
It never even crossed my mind to talk about the how. But then again, my boys haven't asked. They know they grew in my belly, but never asked how they got there! They are 5.
