Thinking of booking a trip for me and DH. I have never been, what hotels would you recommend? Are they direct flights from NYC and, if so, which airlines?
TIA!

Re: Vegas
There are tons of direct flights from NYC. Kayak.com is your friend. :)
As far as a hotel, you should definitely stay on the strip. Which hotel you chose would depend on your budget. I usually look for deals on the hotel's website or on bookings.com, hotels.com, expedia.com etc.
If it's your first time in Vegas, I would recommend staying in the middle of the strip.
Also, think of what kind of entertainment you would like to include in your trip and plan your stay accordingly. If the shows and restaurants you want to go to are all in the South end of the strip, then you should probably not stay all the way on the Northern end of it. KWIM? :) Here is a the map: map

Re: Vegas
thanks very much, that is very helpful. I was looking on expedia for flights and hotels together but it was only giving me flights with stops. Maybe it would be better to book each separately.
Thanks again, I am going to check out kayak.com

You are very welcome! I was a scared Vegas virgin 5 years ago myself and the girls here were extremely helpful! I am happy to return the favor! :)
Once you figure out what you want to see/do/eat we would all gladly recommend things based on your interest, I am sure! :)

Re: Vegas
They just opened a few hotels in the last few years that are amazing and right in the center of everything. The Aria, and the cosmopolitan. ( the new hotels are colled the city center there are more than these 2) if you are looking for a great hotel that's a little cheaper there is the Paris and planet Hollywood which are right next to eachother on the strip. I have stayed in the venetian which is AMAZING the only thing is it is HUGE and it took like 15 mins to get from the casino to our room. The Bellagio is also a classic! my sister stayed there 2 years ago when we went . her room was beautiful and had a view of the fountain but you can tell the hotel is a little older.
Jet blue goes direct , so does Virgin America which I recently took and really liked. they have an upgraded economy class where you get unlimited movies , extra leg space and a free meal on the flight.

Re: Vegas
Someone else recommended the Aria. Does anyone know how the pool is? It would be summer when we are going so I want whichever hotel we stay in to have a great pool

Aria is nice. It has three pools. Two are regular pools and one has a DJ.
You can get direct flights out of JFK booking through expedia.
