my son who is 3 recently pointed to my boobs & asked me what they were. i'm a huge fan of calling body parts by their real name (like we call his penis his penis) so i said "those are mommy's boobs". then he asked me if daddy has boobs too 
do you think referring to them as "boobs" is ok? what do you call your boobs??

I think referring to them as boobs is fine. However if you wish to call things by their actual names you could say breasts.
I also have a DS who is 3 but he hasn't asked yet and I am not looking forward to this

i know, my first thought was to call them breasts but i felt weird saying that idk why. then i figured boob was a good choice. was wondering what others do

My DD learned the word boobies and every time she says it we both crack up.
My DH gets so mad because he doesn't want her talking about them and tells her not to call them that and that we don't use that word. I told him to suck it up because she has to learn not to be ashamed of her body. He just thinks a 2.5 yr old talking about boobies is inappropriate...I find it hilarious!

boobies. i hate the word breasts too. relatedly, I hate the word vagina. so i started saying "peeshee" (because that's what I remember it beeing called when I was a lil' one!) and so now she says "peeshee" ...

Boobies here too. DH is the same way about talking about body parts. He freaks out, especially when I use the word vagina with her. And forget it if she touches herself during a diaper change or bath.

My mom taught my DD boobs in spanish -- so she always points to them and says "Tetas"
It was her first word. I'm not even kidding.

I do say boobies or chest. Both my boys 4&3 started to recently realize mommy doesn't have penis, but I'm not really sure how to approach that.

I've only been asked about it maybe twice but I said breasts. I felt weird about that too, but whenever I'm questioning what word to use, I imagine him going to school and talking about it and decide which one would be less shocking from a teacher perspective haha. I figured boobs would come off as more inappropriate should he happen to bring it up.

Mommy has boobies & daddy & Christopher have a (strong) chest! We use penis & vagina for the privates, although we very rarely need to bring up girl's privates, until when baby sister is born & he'll be helping to change diapers! I was also just explaining to him about the placenta lol
