Pregnancy makes me a temporary vegetarian
This happened when I was pregnant with DD, and is happening again; I find meat/poultry/fish repulsive. It's so bad that I actually gag just by looking at meat (I used to think this was the most made up exaggeration before I experienced it).
When I went through this when I was pregnant with DD, I ate lettuce and tomato sandwiches non-stop. I also found myself gorging on carbs. I don't want to turn to carbs and highly caloric foods this time.
What are you eating if you're not eating meat/poultry/fish, and avoiding lots of carbs? I made a great salad for lunch tomorrow and threw together a bean salad, but I am going to need some creative ideas.

Re: Pregnancy makes me a temporary vegetarian
Foods high in protein that you may want have more of are soybean, eggs, tofu, nuts, quinoa, lentils, cheese and seeds...
There's so much you can make with any of the varieties of food above. I can probably survive on a vegetarian diet if DH wasn't such a carnivore. :)
Allrecipes.com has a good section on vegetarian cooking that can provide some inspiration.

Just watch out for the soy. Too much estrogen is no good and soy is high in that. I was not loving meat either but now I have no choice with GD. I was choosing carbs over anything

Pregnancy makes me a temporary vegetarian
I'm normally a vegetarian and I found anything high in protein was making me sick.. I normally make up for my not eating meat by eating tofu, eggs & quorn. All of those things made me sick to even look at. It took till like 16-17 weeks before I started including protein in my diet again, the doctor said it was safe and to eat what I could keep down and if that didn't include protein it was okay. I would eat a greek yogurt occasionally- they're pretty high in protein.

Re: Pregnancy makes me a temporary vegetarian
This pregnancy has made me a salad freak, and whatever I don't consume in meat (first two trimesters I was a vegetarian like you) I make up for with cheese!
I'm obsessed with turkish salads -- cucumber/tomato/feta and greek salads.
I'm consuming lots of beans -- they're a bit "meater" and I throw them into my salads -- kidney beans and chick peas specifically.

So funny how different every one is.. salad makes me throw up.. nothing else does anymore.. but I still can't digest salad.

Re: Pregnancy makes me a temporary vegetarian
I went through the same thing! I couldn't even look at meat- especially chicken! It went away after 20 weeks. I tried to have milk, yogurt, nuts, peanut butter, beans, cheese. Hope it gets easier for you!
