Milk before age 1
Anyone transition their babies to milk prior to age 1?
My son (10 months) is really kind of over bottles and formula. He fights eating, I honestly think he doesn't care for the taste of formula. He begrudgingly eats but not that much anymore.
The sheet I got from my ped said we can start around 11 months, anyone try their babies on it at 10 months? I can force the issue with him and keep him on formula but I can't see the harm in transitioning earlier, he's so close to his 1st birthday at this point.
Any insight? TIA!

Re: Milk before age 1
My kids are older but I did start them around 10 months with milk. It was a mixture at that time that was weaned over to all milk. My dr. actually recommended this.

Milk before age 1
I asked when I could start introducing it and they wanted me to do it no sooner than 11 months. I tried a week before that anyway and DD got immediate hives and I had to call the doctor to see what I should do and admit that I didn't listen. It would have been the same had I waited a week or a month but I felt bad either way. I would just see what your ped's advice is.

Re: Milk before age 1
If there is no milk allergy, I would start adding milk to his formula...

Re: Milk before age 1
Yes, I did I went back to work from the summer when my son was 10 months. I had pumped from 3 months-8 months while working and then just BFed while home for 2 months. When I went back, he refused all bottles. We tried sippies of breast milk, he wasn't having it. So at first I did sippies of rice milk, but was concerned about arsenic. He hadn't had nuts so I wasn't sure about almond milk. I called the dr and she said to go with cows milk, so we did. No problems at all.

Re: Milk before age 1
I went back to the info form we got from the ped at his 9 month visit. It did say that as we approach his birthday, around ten months, it's okay to start introducing milk.
I'm going to start adding it to his formula so that by the time he's 1 he will be exclusively on milk. Hopefully he likes it more than the formula.

We started at 10mos with my oldest son. We cut the breastmilk 75/25 with whole milk for a week, did 50/50 for two weeks and then did 25% breastmilk with 75% whole milk for the final week.
He was 11mos old when he was on 100% whole milk.
