Long Distance Baby Shower Question
I am having my shower on LI, but I do not live on LI (I am about a 3 hour drive away).
Is there anyway to write on the invite (or put as an insert) that we would appreciate larger gifts shipped directly to us?
If not, we will be returning them and rebuying them near us.
Thanks!

Long Distance Baby Shower Question
We did something like this for my cousin's shower, and then guests printed pictures of the gift and put in the card.

Long Distance Baby Shower Question
I'd probably just have it spread by word of mouth - I'd mention it to my friends, and have my Mom /MIL mention it to family.

I agree. Would it be possible for your parents or someone down here to hold things that you can't fit with you in one trip and bring it up little by little during visits? You won't need things such as a highchair or bigger car seat right away anyway. This would save you the trouble of having to return.

This is technically possible, but my parents and my sister/BIL do not have a lot of storage options. Plus my mom is smoker and I would prefer not to leave things in her house. I am sure my dad will volunteer to drive things up with us the next day if need be.

Re: Long Distance Baby Shower Question
I think that idea is great. (meaning what was said above) Something as simple as "Please feel free to mail gifts" would be sufficient also.

Long Distance Baby Shower Question
I did this for my sister's bridal shower, as she lives in LA and the shower was on LI. On the invitations we wrote "The bride and groom kindly ask that you ship gifts to them in LA. Please bring a picture of your gift for the bride to open on the day of the shower." We were a little nervous that some would think of it as rude, but actually everyone understood and it was well received!

My mom did this exactly for my bridal shower and it worked out perfectly. I had DH take photos of me opening the gift each time one got delivered and I made a cute album with the pics that listed the gift and who it was from. We passed the album around at the shower and everyone loved it. I will probably be doing the same thing for my baby shower.

Ohh , yeah I would not want my stuff in a smoker's house either!
