toddler toys
I am going out of mind with the lousy weather need to get some new toys for my 14 month soon to be 15 month old that will keep him entertained. We already have a fisher price table and a bunch of those walker and ride things so I need some other ideas. Thanks!

DD is a little older (just turned 20 months), but she got a block set for Christmas and it keeps her occupied for a long time.

DS is 3... but what about playdough? Its super messy, but I just deal with it because it keeps him busy for awhile!!
DS also has a collapsible tunnel that he can crawl through, roll around in that's fun, and hardly takes up any room to store it... its by Melissa and Doug
even a cheap beach ball keeps him busy for awhile, and is soft enough that it doesn't realy hurt much if if knocks into anything
DS also LOVES cars or any kind of vehicles.... so sometimes I just fill up a big bowl of warm water and a drop of soap, put it on the kitchen floor and let him "wash" his cars... LOVES it!!

DD is 15 months. She loves her instruments, Mega blocks, chunky puzzles, laugh and learn piggy bank, tomy hide and squeak eggs, books....She is also beginning to show an interest in "helping" me do chores. If I give her a plain rag or paper towel to "dust", it keeps her busy. And she likes to pretend to cook with a few of my pots, some Tupperware and a big spoon. She has magmatic blocks- geomag baby blocks- that she likes to stick on the fridge and play with too when we're in the kitchen.

Thanks for all the suggestions...I think part of the issue is that he is a bit of a late bloomer...like someone mentioned a crayon...I think all hell do is try to eat it..lol. When I try to read to him he won't let me unless its a tactile book that he can touch..he just doesn't have that focus yet. I'll try anyway and see what happens. Thanks.

DS is a bit older (21 months) but he loves instruments. At Target there's this toy line called B. They have lots of funky and different toys. There's this drum they sell and inside are a bunch of musical instruments. Also a bit hit is a remote control car from the same line.
When all else fails give him a pot, wooden spoon, and a cordless phone. Those keep my lil guy busy for hours!!

DD would eat a crayon too if I left her alone with it, I think that is to be expected and normal at this age. You can try a magnadoodle- just be sure the pen is attached and you take away any small parts, obviously. She loves books, but I don't read them verbatim- I simplify the text and we mostly just look at and label the pictures. They may not be able to play with everything the way they're "supposed" to yet, but the can still learn and have fun exploring them.

 absolutely!!!! My dd couldn't get enough of her megablocks! She quickly caught on how to stack em (we have the table she can attach them to to make it easier). She is 20m now and into anything that has a lot of parts (at the moment it's mr potato head) that she can put in and take out of baskets. Keeps her super busy.

I would definitely give crayons a shot. You never know. DS is 21 months and he is constantly on the move. He refuses to let me read him a book. Even when I put his favorite TV show on, he still needs to stand and rock back and forth as he watches it. The only time I have ever seen him sit quiet for more than 30 seconds is when he colors. He LOVES it and has been doing it for 6 months or so. I think it is worth a shot!
ETA: We got him an easel desk for xmas and it was by far the best thing we ever purchased for him. He loves to color, finger paint and play with his magnetic letters.

Definitely give the crayons a shot. You can tape a picture to the fridge (washable crayons of course) or to the tray of the high chair. DD will sit in the high chair forever if she has some crayons in a cup (loves taking them in and out of the cup), paper, and a sheet of stickers. She also loves the dot stampers, paint with water, finger paints, etc. As long as I'm watching and she's contained I don't mind a bit of a mess. You could also do a tupperware container of dry beans and a few cups and let him play with that. Of course you have to watch and see how he does but DD rarely tried to put them in her mouth.
Other toys she loves are the B Toys piano, vtech drum set, megabloks, balls, bowling. Her current favorite game is putting every piece of toy food she has in a laundry basket and stirring it with a shovel to make soup. She can do that for an hour!

Both my kids ate crayons at that age too but, a couple months later, enjoyed using them appropriately.
Maybe try a magnadoodle? My boys love theirs.

dd is OBSESSED with her little people school bus. she is 14 months and not walking yet, but uses it like a walking toy. puts her hands on it and walks all around hunched over. it's hilarious.
she also is obsessed with her leap frog picnic basket. it entertains her forever.
and this wooden toy - it's a xylophone underneath - which also can detach and be played with separately, and on top there's 3 holes for wooden balls, and a hammer, to knock the balls through so they hit the xylophone and roll down/make music. she hits the floor with the hammer and plays with the balls incessantly but who cares, she loves it.
also loves a Melissa and dog puzzle that's all animals, and when you put each piece in, it makes the noise of the animal. can she do it properly? no. but still loves it.
she loves books... all books... but she has 2 of those baby dictionary type books... one is all pictures of every animal under the sun, with the name... and the other is a baby Einstein one and each page is a different category - food, numbers, nature etc. again it's all just pictures with the names. the pages cant be ripped and she will sit for an hour just pointing at things, wanting to be told what they are and then I've started to ask her "where's the..." and she's learned quite a bit and gets SOOOO excited when she's right.

personally i think forget the toys:
my boy, especially at that age kept most busy with:
a deck of cards - he would spread em out, put them one by one in a box...repeat.
a toilet paper roll (he unrolled it all over the house ) worse the mess.
papertowel rolls
wrapping paper
boxes
hundreds of plastic balls ( the kind thats supposed to go in a ball pit i guess?) we put them in a tubberware storage container- he just took one by one out and back in and in other boxes and baskets.
