How many days of week/ hours a day is your 4 year old going to Pre-K? Also please include if you are a SAHM or FTWM.

I'm torn on how many days/ hours I should send DS to school next year. I'm a SAHM but I have twins at home. Thanks

Re: Pre-K

I'm a SAHM, too. DS turned 3 in November, and in September he started a nursery school program (so he wasn't quite 3 when he started) Its just 2 mornings a week from 9-11:30 (so, 5 hours a week total). I was really nervous sending him so young- but I needed the break and chance to get stuff done without him in tow LOL (we have no family in the area that can watch him once in a while) Its been SO good for him!! for his age, they don't push academics, and do everything mostly through play, very laid back. He an only child, so its been great for him to learn how to share better and interact with other kids better.

Next year, when hes 4, he'll stay at the same school, but he'll go 3 mornings a week (still from 9-11:30) I think for the 4 year olds, they do more "academic" stuff, like letters, counting, pre-math stuff.

Honestly, if the cost is manageable, I think its a great idea. I know some people feel like they have enough time to be in school, why start so early? BUT if you find the right school that doesn't push things too much and makes it fun for them, it can only help them.

Re: Pre-K

I am a FTWM . My DD goes to daycare 3 days a week- full days.

Her Pre K program will be at the day care.

So 3 days- not sure how long per day they do actual Pre K curriculum though.

I am a SAHM and my four year old DD is not in any kind of school. We do a kindergarten curriculum at home and have activities a few times a weekwith our homeschool groups.

Re: Pre-K

DS is 4 in August.

He will go Pre k 5 days a week, 9 to noon.
At noon, he comes home, lunch, relax.
At school, they would do lunch, relax time & one more hour of instruction or activity (not worth extra $).

I WFT, and have a babysitter for my 2 yr old. She will not be starting this year (no point).
