1st birthday food opinions

We are having Ds's 1st birthday party march 15th and doing a st paddy's theme...Oh so lucky to have you

Anyway I am sick of having the same old food for our parties and was thinking of doing:

a chicken/mozz/roasted pepper hero
mini hamburger sliders
popcorn chicken

then a tray of chicken parm and penne alla vodka.

Do you think this is good? and a little bit different...We would have about 30 adults and10 kids

I think that is good mix! The sliders and popcorn chicken are definitely different!

that sounds good. the popcorn chicken is def. unique i feel like. (eta: i agree that the sliders, hero, chicken parm and penne are very common at parties)

but if it is st paddys day themed... why don't you go with more irish/themed food? the popcorn chicken and sliders are kind of pub food so you could keep those!

instead of the hero, you should do corned beef and cabbage sandwiches. You could even serve it on irish sodabread. You can serve potato salad or another potato dish along side it!

You can simplify it: it's a lot of different foods (Edpecially if you are going to prepare any).

We usually do different, but keep it simple: Lile kebobs.

I like the suggestion of "irish themed" or pub food... and yet I don't even like corned beef and cabbage. I do LOVE a reuben though. so I'm not very helpful lol
I know what you mean about the same ol food though... it's like being torn between what you KNOW people will like/look for... and then doing your own thing.
the chicken parm and penne will def go over well - but is def also typical of a party. maybe instead, you could do another type of hero and 2 more finger type foods? my fam just got a hero on Christmas eve, it was like a garlic teriyacki steak with mozz and spinach. very yummy. I think it'd go over well and is a bit different.
either way, I think it will be great
we did an omelette station, with a vegetable struedel, fruit cups, a pasta salad and assorted mini sandwiches.
I think assorted mini sandwiches would go over as well as a hero... and most people will go for a pasta salad. plus that's kid friendly as well.

now I want potato soup!! LOL!

I like adding a little Irish/pub food theme to the party---I would add potato soup/irish soda bread. I am not a fan of cornbeef and cabbage but that would fit in perfectly!

I think it sounds great. We do that hero a lot of parties and ppl always love it!

I'd add a salad and maybe a vegetarian entree, like eggplant.
