Anyone's child not like meat at first?
I made her a nice organic chicken breast and puréed it. She took like three bites. Kept trying and no improvement. Yesterday we tried ground turkey....without being puréed...the same she actually scooped it out of her mouth! Any suggestions on doing meat the homemade way? Should I try jarred? Which brand? She's only 8.5 months.

When I made meats for dd she didn't eat them. But when I gave her the jarred meat she ate the whole jar! We used earths best. I was very surprised. I started with some blends like sweet potato and chicken dinner.

At first she had no interest. Now she expects it when we are eating dinner. Took about a month. We give bits of whatever we are eating.

How old was she when you first gave it to her? We have the earths best ones.

DD wouldn't eat puréed meat. I pretty much skipped over it and just offered tiny, soft pieces of meat instead, which she loved.

DD hated pureed meats. Those and beets were the only purees she wouldn't eat as an infant. She still doesn't really like meat - I think the only meat she will eat not in a soup are chicken fingers and meatballs.

Ds hated meats at first. Just keep trying. They say most kids need to try something multiple times before they like it.

Re: Anyone's child not like meat at first?
jarred meat made me want to gag... I couldn't do it. I tried pureeing chicken myself and it made her gag. I let it go... and since she's been on table food, we've worked our way into her eating some meats but she's not crazy about it. rotisserie chicken, turkey meatballs and Swedish meatballs have been hit or miss, depending on her mood. same with deli turkey and ham. she doesn't like bacon, meatloaf or steak. she likes chicken nuggets and chicken meatballs now but it took her a LONG time.

I never did pureed or jarred meats. I waited until she was old enough for chopped meat. i did mini meatballs and such. i wasn't big on pushing meat, though.

Same here. I made DD meats from scratch and she refused both pureed and little pieces. It's the one thing she preferred store bought. The earth's best ones really weren't bad. I started trying them at 8 months. She's now 20 months and still doesn't like meat! I have luck with a few select meats that she'd eat about half the time.

DD is 3 and JUST started eating small pieces of meat. I was convinced she was going to be a vegetarian!

Pureed meats comes out grainy and gross, IMO. Have you tried shredding the chicken up into tiny little pieces and giving it to her that way? My DS gagged at pureed chicken but loved it shredded.

Never seemed to care for it. She'd eat it but she didn't gobble it down like the meatless purees.
