Another sippy cup question

How exactly did you introduce it? I would like to start since DD is 7 months, but I'm not sure when to give it to her or what to put in it. I bought the straw one. She's very interested in cups so I think she'd like it and get the idea pretty quickly.

Another sippy cup question

We started out by putting formula in it. He would just toss it most of the time, but as he got older he got used to it.

Another sippy cup question

I just gave it to dd at 6 months with water. After only 2 days she sucks out of the straw. I give it to her after solids and throughout the day.

I put water in it starting around that age. She never drank too much but I just wanted her to get the idea of it. Once I weaned her and switched to soymilk she was using straw cups for everything.

Gave it to her (6m) as she sat in her high chair. Mine has handles on side w rubber spout that she chews on. This is practice phase.

Another sippy cup question

I gave it to my dd with meals and snacks throughout the day. It took my dd awhile to get it and then once she did she didn't drink a lot. She would chew on it or sip the water then spit it out on herself LOL

Honestly it took my dd a good 3-4 months to really get it that she should drink all the water LOL

I used Playtex grippers it has handles on the side which made it easy for my dd to hold and she loved doing that.

Re: Another sippy cup question

Thanks for the responses! Since DD is still EBF should I put BM in it? I don't want to waste it if she's not going to drink it. If you put that or water how much of it did you put in the cup?

She won't drink much...I usually half filled with water so it wasn't a struggle to tip it and get liquid out.

I introduced water in a straw sippy at 6 months. For 6+ months, she really only took a few sips here or there, so I def wouldn't fill the cup with a lot of formula or BM-you'd waste most of it.

I would do water for now. Bm will get wasted. Its just practice.
I would fill it up half. You will see they will barely drink it till they really get the hang of it. And dont give up just keep giving it everyday a few times a dya.

I just put water in it and gave it to DS at 6 months. He figured it out on his own right away.

Re: Another sippy cup question

We started with water (least messy) and used the playtex straw ones where you can press and the water goes up the straw. We introduced it at 6 mos. and would use it every night at dinner for a few sips. She got the hang of it independently around 8.5 mos.
