disney character meet and greets

So I've been to Disney a bunch of times, but in February I'm going for the first time as a mom Chat Icon
DS is 3. We're doing Chef Mickey dinner, so he'll get to see the Fab Five there. But he's also dying to see Buzz Lightyear and Woody, TowMater and Lightning Mcqueen....
Growing up, the characters just kind of walked around and you randomly ran into them- I know its different now. So how do I find out where and when the characters will be? Can I find out before we go, or do I just go somewhere to pick up a "schedule" in the morning when we get to the park?
Thanks!!

If you download the app they will have the character appearance schedules. A lot of characters were located in air conditioning and you just waited on line and they signed did pictures.

Character locator pro is a perfect app. Kenny the pirate. His app show any character, where they are, tips and times. Very helpful when your kids says I have to meet x now!

Lightning McQueen and Mater are at Hollywood Studios - they have regular sized vehicles and they are in the same place all day long. DS loved them!

There are apps for real time information (as others have said) but if you want to read up beforehand check out easywdw.com. He's got a whole section with character meet and greet information broken down first by park then by character.

What is good about the overview is that he also tells you where else the characters meet. For example, if you're reading about Mike and Sully at Hollywood studios, he'll tell you that they don't appear at any other park. I think that's good info to have before you plan out your park days if DC are into the characters more than the rides like my DS.
