Booster Seat?

DS is 3.5 years and about 38 pouinds. I have him in a Graco Nautilius and while the harness still fits, it is getting very tight. I doubt he will still fit by his 4th birthday (March).

Can I move him into a high back booster with a seatbelt?

Re: Booster Seat?

Your child must be at least 4 years and 40 pounds to be in a booster with a lap/shoulder belt. But isn't that safe as most kids that age don't fit right in those seats. My friends DD was pushing 50 pounds and really tall and she switched her to a regular booster and she was all over the place. She ended up buying a harnessed booster for her..

Try adjusting the straps. My friends son fits in my sons Nautilus and he is 8

I have found that parents with this complaint that have come in to see me have not adjusted the belt properly. This seat can go to higher weights than some others and I have seen kids over 6 years old and 50 pounds fitting.

I agree with Newleaf's post above. It is not recommended to place a child under 4 in a booster, especially when you have a combination seat that can got to a higher weight.

Please feel free to FM me so I can give you my number and we can review the seat together.

Re: Booster Seat?

Check the straps, read the manual. My 6&7 year old daughters are still in these seats in 5 point harnesses with plenty of room to grow. They aren't tiny either. No way should a 4 year old outgrow these straps.

Children should remain in a harness until they outgrow it by height and/or weight. I usually have recommended children remain harnessed until they are physically AND mentally mature enough to remain in proper position the entire time, have the belt fit properly, not play with the belts (move them, undo them etc), which for most kids is between 5 and 7 years old.
