Telling Work

So I'm sure this has been discussed before, but I am looking for any advice people have from experience of telling your boss about your pregnancy. Is there anything I need to know/do in advance? I am going on 14 weeks so the time has come but I always get nervous for big conversations. I have no reason to think my boss will be anything but supportive, but I am nervous anyway. Anyone have any advice anyone on how to do it or if there is anything I need to be prepared for? Thanks for the help and hope everyone who celebrated had a great holiday!

Telling Work

I just did it last week. I was also beyond nervous initially, but it was just nerves and a bit of awkwardness with such personal announcement. I went to tell my partners at the end of the day in each of their offices. Just said I have some wonderful news and told them that I am 14 week preg. They were all beyond excited.
I also told the rest of my coworkers at a holiday party later in the week. Just blurted it out. Everyone were beyond excited. Actually a bit threw me off as they were more excited than me and my DH. With fertility treatments that gave us our baby we most of the time just freaked out so was nice to see ppl who didn't have that weight jump up and down with happiness for us LOL

Re: Telling Work

I was a wreck when I had to tell my boss. I have been with the company for 6 years and I was recently promoted to a new position so I was afraid that they may see this as a negative. I know it sounds silly but these are the things you worry about.

When I finally got up the nerve I called him when I knew he wouldn't be too busy. Early morning is usually the best. I had all the answers to any of the work related questions he may ask.

I took a deep breathe and said I was pregnant. I was shocked at how supportive he was. Not one comment on my work or covering me what so ever. It was all "When am I due?", "Am I going to find out the sex?", "How far along?", "How am I feeling?". Then he went on about his wife and friends who were pregnant and what they dealt with. I was in awe on how supportive he was. Just stunned.

I mean I expected this to be a strictly professional call like "When will I be taking my leave", "Who will cover me?" blah blah blah. But it wasn't he was sincerely happy for me.

I do not have any advice, but just wanted to wish you good luck! Just try to do it when they are in a good mood and not too busy.
