5 year old birthday party: Who writes the thank you cards?

DS recently turned 5. He had 15-20 kids at his party. I definitely plan on having him sign his name on the thank you notes. I was debating whether I should write the rest of the note thanking each child for the gift or have him write a little something. What's the norm for thank you notes for 5 year olds?

Party City sells these sort of pre-filled thank you notes. They say something along the lines of:
Dear: _____________
Thank you so much for coming to my party. ___________ is awesome.

Your Friend,

_______________

They are not contained with the theme section but a few aisles over. I used them for DSs 5th and 6th birthday party thank you notes.

I had my 4 yo sit with me and we "wrote" them together but I wrote them and he signed them.

If there were only 5 tkus, maybe, but I don't think a 5 yo can easily write so many tkus. You would have to do just a few a day. So I would just write them and have them sign. Or have them write the DCs name and their name but you write the rest. JMO

My daughter wrote her own this year when she turned 6. I think a 5 year old signing his/her name is more than acceptable.

I write out the thank you's for my 5yo DD and then she signs her name.
