brown spotting before AF? (update)

I am holding off TTC for right now, but was wondering if other ladies have gone through the same thing... Each month around 8DPO (I have been temping the past few months just to see if I actually do ovulate) I start getting brown spotting, for about 4-5 days until I get regular AF. It's annoying because its enough for me to have to wear a light tampon at least. Then when AF does actually come, its very heavy. Could this be a progesterone issue, or something else?


Just wanted to update- turns out I have cysts on my left ovary so now I have the be put on BCP for a few months... ugh... I have a feeling being on BCP is what caused me to be irregular in the first place really hoping that when I go off them, it won't cause me any problems!

I get that too - Acupuncture has helped, sometimes it is an indication of low progesterone, but it's probably just normal.

I have that too. I have a generally short LP also. Not sure whether it's a sign of a problem. I've been pregnant 2x (and have 1 child).

I get the same thing. I was told its normal - they checked all my levels and did saline sono and nothing came up.

Thanks all. I made an appt with my OB today just in case, maybe he can run hormone tests at least. I just hope he doesn't care that I'm going there while on AF since its CD 2 for me (although, I think hormone tests are done during early cycle days anyway?)
