Did anyone's relationship with ILs improve after having children?
I read so many threads about issues with ILs after having babies, especially if ILs are the ones watching the kids. I'm lucky that I've always had a decent relationship with my MIL, although there have been a few bumps. But now that DS is here, and she is watching him while I work, it's really been great. She is always there for us when we need her, they both are (her and FIL). My parents don't live here so it's nice to have that support. She watches DS and she always says 'however you want me to do xyz'. She never makes suggestions or anything and is always asking how she can make my life easier. I was fully expecting this to be really difficult and strain our relationship, but the opposite is happening! Is this just a honeymoon period? Should I expect it to get worse?

That's wonderful!! I am also blessed to have a great MIL! She watches my kids and has been nothing but amazing! I love her!
ETA: we also had a few bumps prior to me having kids so I would say our relationship did improve.

Re: Did anyone's relationship with ILs improve after having children?
YES, 100%! She was always a great person but so enthusiastic about things, and just a tad overbearing (in a "she means well" way). She is SO respectful. She overly spoils the kids of course but that's a grandma's job. She begs for sleepovers with them, will babysit at a moment's notice and acts as if it's a favor to her, not the other way around. She never forgets to check in with me before buying them something, or ask me if something's ok before she gives it to the kids. She plays with them like it's her job and never gets tired of it, and tells me all the time that they are so great because I'm a great mom.
She's a better grandma than my own mom sometimes LOL, because I get all the help with none of the guilt!
My kids are 5 and 3.5 now, so I don't think it's a honeymoon phase at all

I second that. We don't see them very often.

Yes, definitely. When DS was a newborn she had a million opinions for me and kept telling me how to do things differently. I guess she realized I was doing a decent job and she has kept quiet since. Thankfully we have a great relationship.

I was gonna do the same!
It wasn't bad before ... or good.. just hasn't changed at all since the baby was born.

Things became much worse once MIL/ FIL started watching my kid. So many things went wrong, I end up staying home w dc. Best decision ever.

Yes, I believe so. We always had a good relationship but I feel like it got stronger after having DS and they watch him 4 days a week.

I agree! I am also very glad that I don't have to see them anymore.
