Running Nose
So my dd (17 months) nose started running a few hours ago. Very bad. Her sleep the last 2 days has been horrendous. She is fighting her naps and last night she was up from 1030-1230/1. Shes sneezing here and there. I think shes getting sick.
Is there anything I can do to prevent this from getting worse?
Can I put a little bit of fresh squeeze lemon juice in her water?
Any recs I appreciate... I really don't want her to get sick... Shes so miz when shes sick. I feel bad.

Re: Running Nose
my daughter has been sick for 4 days now with a cold. the pedi says its because she's teething but i have a cold and don't buy it. i think she caught my cold. she's miserable. her nose is running like crazy and is now red. she coughs and sneezes and she fights nap time and wakes during the night crying and will take awhile to settle again. i'm following this post to see if anyone has any recs, i'll try anything at this point.
what does the lemon in the water do?

Lemon has more vitamin c than an orange and anytime i feel anything coming on even a stomach bug i drink lots of water with lemon and usually feel better. Cold water or hot water with lemon :)

Just be careful with the lemon- any time my ds eats a lot of citrus he gets a terrible diaper rash

Re: Running Nose
After 1 year my Ped lets us give 1/2 tsp Benadryl to dry them up and help them sleep, works wonderfully.

We always keep a cool mist humidifier in DD's room in the winter. She had a little runny nose last week and we started the humidifier up again and it seemed to help.

Re: Running Nose
Use saline a few times a day. A humidifier at night I also use a children's anthistomine to dry DS out when his nose is constantly running. Good luck. Hope your baby feels better soon.

Running Nose
My 2 kids have it too. DD is teething too so it is not helping but t is a cold. DS got it from her. Runny noses, sneezing, fever, coughing and no naps during the day unless i am holding them even though they generally love their beds. I cant wait until it is over. I give a 2.5mils of Benedryl to dry it up. I also put vicks in their feet and chests at night. They do sleep all night thank god.

Vicks! Great idea! She woke up this morn and shes officially sick! My poor baby. Her nose running is insane. Its so much! And i suctioned her nose. Im using saline drops and trying to help with her congestion. But my poorbaby is so congested. Does anyone know if the nebulizer with saline clear up nose congestion or just chest congestion?

Re: Running Nose
DS is 16 months and ped told us to give him 3/4 tsp of benadryl morning and night and that seemed to help. We use vicks at night. He also turned out to have chest congestion so he had to be put on a nebulizer 3x a day.

We put her mattress on an angle, go back and forth between warm must and cold mist with Vicks added. Vapor rub on chest and back and vapor bath. Saline spray and nose frida.
