I still keep telling myself that it was all a setup in order to get him out alive. LOL. That somehow, with his background and training, that he did not die.

Anyone see anywhere if the actors contract was renewed? I read somewhere that the actresses who play his wife and daughter were not returning
Still wonder what all that storyline was meant to be with his daughter

I saw on Entertainment Weekly that the wife and daughter are not returning as series regulars. In an interview, the producer said they may be back briefly but no decisions have been made. Actually the whole interview is just a lot of "we don't know what we're doing next season" but here it is if anyone wants to read it.

I couldn't believe they killed off Brody but I guess that was the only thing that could really be done. He completed his mission and it worked. I really don't get the whole daughter story line and it was just a waste of time, unless she joins the CIA or something and becomes a new "Carrie".
I think Carrie leaves the baby with her sister.
They never wrapped up the "who bombed the CIA" storyline so I'm sure that will be part of next season. I'm hoping the new director was behind the mole and they then beg Saul to come back!
I agree that Dana got an awful lot of screen time, but I see what they were trying to do there:
1. Dana was always the thing that brought him back to reality and from the brink of evil. We saw that in season one when she was the reason why he didn't pull the trigger (well, the second time anyway) and we saw it in the second to last episode when he declared he was coming back and "not only because of Dana." They had to continue that theme.
2. Her character helps show how complex Brody was. On one hand, she humanizes him because his affection for her was endearing, and on the other hand, it showed how narrow minded and selfish he can be. (It was always about Dana but - hello - you have TWO kids.)
3. I think it was a kind of foreshadowing that he wasn't going to make it home. We know from the finale of Season 2 that she knows in her heart he did not bomb Langley, and yet she cannot forgive him. If his own daughter can't forgive him even knowing the truth, how could the nation? There was no way he was going to assimilate back into society here.

JennP your points are excellent and spot on! I know the character was the center of much fan friction but the writers had her there as a reason and representation. I did however want to know what it was all leading up to but as you have pointed out her character was more of a symbol and aspect of his personality.
Sometimes I think they were going somewhere else with her charcater but haulted after seeing how viewers did not want it. Imagine being that actress.

Re: Homeland finale - *** spoilers ***
I just got done watching it and I am just so bummed by the way his character was killed off. I do agree that Brody had no where else to go but I just wish he would have went out with more dignity. I was left just kind of feeling sorry for his character, between being tortured for 8 years, to being used by the CIA and Abu Nazir, to then being blamed for the bombing at Langley, to a heroin addict, and then into Iran and then being executed. It just made sad.
I fel like they were using Dana to show that Brody was destroying everyone around him and to show the consequences of what would happen the longer that he was around. I just wish we could have seen less of her and her bf, it was a bit much.
I dont know what season 4 will hold but I hope it's better than this one. I loved Seasons 1&2 but this one dragged for me, the Dana storyline didn't help with that either, nor Saul and his wife's.
