AG doll question, sorta . . .

I don't know that much about these dolls other than they're pretty pricy and that they seem to be for older girls. I figured when DD got a bit older (around 5 or so) I'd get her one.

DD is 2.5 and MIL (who does tons for us and is very generous) went out and bought DD the Pottery Barn knock-off AG doll (which is still very pricy) and a bed to go with it for Christmas. When she said she was getting her a doll, I thought she meant the infant baby doll from there, which is more age appropriate as far as I'm concerned. No, it's one of the older girl dolls.

SO nice of her but I'm sorta sad because I had planned to do the whole AG doll thing, going to the store, etc with DD when she is older. Do you think this ruins it? I feel like an ass complaining about such a nice and generous gift but I'm sorta bummed about it.

Tell me I'm being silly, right?

You are being silly. The experience at the store is amazing and you can get her a doll when she is older. Let her "practice" with this one first.

Aw, I'd probably be feeling the same way if my MIL did that when my DD was 2.5. But, trust me, your DD will know the difference 3, 4 years from now and she's going to have the time of her life when you bring her. I just brought my DD for her 8th birthday, along with her 6 year old sister, and they were beside themselves; I don't think they thought for one minute about any other dolls they've ever had. Don't waste one second of your time worrying about this.

My DD has a few and every time she goes to the store or looks in the catalogue it is very exciting. It won't ruin it at all.
