Favorite Disney Hotel?
We're booking our first trip to Disney in June. The boys will be 5.5 and almost 2. My parents are coming with us. I haven't done much research yet on where to stay. As a kid, we always stayed at the Contemporary. My dad looked at the prices and said it would cost $500-600 per room per night for that hotel. That seems outrageous considering we plan to spend most of the time at the parks. I know the monorail is convenient, but there must be other hotels that make it easy to travel to the parks that are more reasonably priced.
Please tell me which hotels you loved. Was there anything you didn't like about the hotel? Are there any hotels you wouldn't recommend?

We love the wilderness lodge, but haven't stayed at any others. The boat to magic kingdom is so fun. Our boys love it there, and it's quieter than other resorts (I've heard) which is nice after a crazy day at. The parks.

Favorite Disney Hotel?
We stayed at the Wilderness Lodge in September and it was so-so. I thought it was going to be so peaceful and quiet and boy was I wrong. Disney has seemed to confuse the pacific northwest with the Old West. It was so noisy due to the horrible Whispering Canyon Cafe and the stupid games they play with the guests. I still have nightmares about someone asking for ketchup and the waiters screaming "We need ketchup". Seriously it gets really loud. We visited a few hotels when we dined out and the best was the Grand Floridan which of course is the most expensive. The Yacht Club resort was our 2nd favorite.

I've only ever stayed at the Boardwalk, Yacht Club and Beach Club- all are on/near the boardwalk and walking distance to Epcot and a boat ride away from Hollywood Studios. Love staying in this area, there's always something to do.

LOVE The Wilderness Lodge. Didn't found it loud at all, and it was very convenient to the Magic Kingdom.

Re: Favorite Disney Hotel?
We have never stayed on the monorail yet. We have taken 3 trips since DS1 was born and stayed at Caribbean Beach, Boardwalk and off site at hte Sheration Vistiana Villages. We always rent a car with the kids so its easier.
What we did this time, was we made breakfast reservations at Poly and took the monorail from there after driving there for breakfast.
Check DVC-rental.com they rent the disney timeshare properties so you could probably get a decent price on a larger unit that would fit your family and you could just rent a minivan and still save.

Re: Favorite Disney Hotel?
We've stayed at the polynesian twice and loved it, but we were just there over thanksgiving and stayed at the contemporary and loved that too. Being able to walk to the magic kingdom was great, and my 2yo is train crazy so he loved the monorail going through the hotel. We are slow starters in the morning so being close to the parks is key for us if we want to get there at a reasonable time.

Keep in mind that the promotions aren't out yet for that time of year. If you were to book now, you could have the promotion applied when it's released as long as your dates fall within the availability and there are still promo rooms available. That's one of my main duties as a travel agent, to make sure you get the best price.
My favorite Disney resort is Animal Kingdom Lodge followed closely by Beach Club Resort.
I also love the value resorts but it's a completely different experience.
Send me an email or a message and I can help your family plan a magical trip with a magical price tag. My services are free.
