potty training: day 5
so we started potty training on friday...DD has no problem sitting on the potty, but it just hasn't "clicked" yet. She has been telling us from the beginning when as soon as she has an accident, loves sitting on the potty and wearing underwear, but still has only had a few successes. Today she was at daycare and no success :( They are very supportive there of our potty training and honor our wishes. Any tips? How long did it take for your LO to stop having accidents?
PS...I have an older DD but I can't even compare the two experiences because it was HELL training her and she wanted nothing to do with it in the beginning, so this is already a much better experience, but i thought we would start having more success by now

I did it over one weekend.
Stay home all day.
No undies for at least 1 day.
When an accident happens, say pee pee in potty.
When she pees in the potty, act as if you just found a million dollars in there! Get her to clap too.
No pull ups.
Accidents happen, but after a week with DD (she's 23 months), we are down to 1 accident a day at most. We don't get mad, just say pee pee goes in potty.
I swear... It worked for both kids.

We basically did that...since both DD and I were home for four days this past weekend. We kept DD home all day Friday, (almost) all day saturday, all day sunday, monday and then tuesday she went to daycare. the only time we did pull ups was nap and bedtime...and we said this is special sleeping underwear. haven't gotten mad and put her on the potty after every accident to reinforce and make sure it's all out

It'll stop.
Sounds like you are doing it all right (at least what I think is right). DS had accidents for a month or so. I carried spare clothes. He has classmates in school who are 5 (mixed class), who still have accidents especially in school.

I did the 3 day potty method and it worked amazing. It was a ruff three days, actually more like 5 days. He really got the hang of it and was trained even at night after a week.
My son is very stubborn and hard to handle at times so j was shocked it worked so well.
I would read up on it. Seems best thing is no pull ups or diapers at all. No having them sit on the toilet forever if they don't go. Reward and sticker charts and don't ask if they have to go. Just keep telling them " let me know when you have to go", Watch them like a hawk abd look for signs they are about to go.

Are you constantly reminding her to tell you when she needs to potty?
As soon as I saw my kids starting to pee or poop in their underwear I would rush them off to the potty to finish.
